Johnson’s a very good young player, watched a lot of him in the championship the season before and was a level above everyone else, last year he improved a lot as the season went on. He can get in behind with his pace but also plays with his head up and choice and timing of pass is very good.

Toney I’m not convinced by personally, the consistency of his touch and link play would get highlighted more in a team that tries to work the ball a bit more. Our fans would get frustrated by him

£35m should be the upper limit for him.

the market is crazy at the moment with everyone overpricing any bit of talent.

richy is our kane replacement it looks like and we are looking for a young backup
Which is just as bad imo. The young forward will likely cost 30 million and it will be deemed a win cause we get the centre backs we want.

I think there is a huge step down in quality between Kane and Richy.

I agree that Richy is a step down but Ideally we won't be so over reliant on the top striker and players such as Maddison/Son/Kulu/Solomon will relieve the pressure.

Just trying to be optamistic, I personally want Muani

Agree anything else is a massive lack of ambition.

Tottenham line up Brennan Johnson to replace Harry Kane

Tottenham are considering a move for Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson should the sale of Harry Kane go through.

All eyes will be focused on the summit between Bayern Munich executives Jan-Christian Dreesen, Marco Neppe and Tottenham's Daniel Levy in London today, to see if they can reach accord on a fee for Kane.

A relaxed looking Dreesen and Neppe took a private jet from Oberpfaffenhofen Airport at 9.51am, confident they can land their main man.

But Tottenham have been busy assessing forward options to fill the void Kane will leave. Bayern's Mathys Tel has been mentioned, though he isn't overly keen on a move, and Gift Orban of Gent is another thought to be under consideration. However, Johnson has Premier League experience and is homegrown.

Manager Steve Cooper doesn't want to sell Johnson, who also has admirers at Aston Villa, but with FFP on their shoulder, Forest have to be realistic. They have rebuffed Brentford's offer of £35m plus add-ons but it's understood offers closer to £50m would have to be looked at. Tottenham won't go that high but could find a middle ground as they target a quicker profile to their attack.

We can't be picking a striker option on them being homegrown, there are plenty of other less crucial positions to build those numbers up. Johnson is a good player and did ok in his first EPL season but I think he's a touch below the potential we should be looking for

Surely that's just bullshit and if we really looking for him than it's to replace Bryan as a winger, not Kane as a striker

You would hope so! He isn’t good enough imo. He’s not bad by any means but nowhere near the level we need.

Has one of the worst FBRef “bar graphs” I’ve ever seen. Doesn’t mean he’s awful, but not anywhere close to 50M

Ridiculous headline created purely to anger Spurs fans. We would not be buying Brennan Johnson to "replace" Kane. We are buying him to strengthen our squad and HG numbers

As has been done to death, Richy is clearly going to be Kane's replacement, it is why he was purchased last year. Johnson will be back up/rotation and the rest of the Kane money goes on CBs.

It would still be a monumental waste of 40/50 million. He is worth nowhere near that.

This is what we'll be putting up with;

"*insert name to replace Harry Kane" regardless of whether they even play as a centre forward or not, perpetuated by shit rags like the Mail/Sun/Express etc.
