Interesting question. I wonder how many PL players of Davies generation will want the hassle of Management when their bank accounts are full to overflowing ?
I am certain that there are many who could have been good managers won’t as financial they just don’t need it.

But then others will because they love the game and don’t know anything else.

Once you hear Gary Neville talk about a football match it's easy to see why he failed as a manager. There's nothing insightful; he's the king of the "I-saw-something-happen-and-then-I-said-what-happened" brigade.

Probably more than you would think. Many are addicted to the game and find it hard to let go when their playing careers are over. I doubt Rooney, Gerrard or Lampard really needed the money.
I doubt any of those three will go on to have any meaningful success. Gerrard won in Scotland, and he’ll likely do ok in Saudi, but he was a rank failure in the premier league. Ditto Lampard. Rooney seems to be the most likely to succeed having dropped down a division to learn his craft.

Rooney is a vanity manager. He’ll fail like the rest of them, but idiot chairman will keep chucking money at him. Madness.

You’re probably right, he does at least seem willing to put in the hard graft though.

The problem with someone like Davies is that he has to play the perfect game mentally and technically otherwise it's going to be very difficult for him to recover from mistakes with his limitations. He did that yesterday and he was our best player no doubt. His best position is CB though for me, he's actually excellent and brave in the air.

Up to the point Biss got sent off Kulu was my man of the match. But bearing how well he played all game and how we defended as a team (which he was at the heart of) after the red I gave it to him.

I don't think so. I think Royal will play left back. Davies is too important as a centre back when VdV is out.

Royal will probably do a decent job. Probably not as bright as Udogie going forward, but probably good in possession and a solid performance when defending.
It was one game but I didn't like Royal at left back against Wolves. He didn't look comfortable defending at all not that I blame him for that much.

Very impressive performance.

Some really strong challenges, brave runs down the wing where he found one of our players, and numerous headed clearances during those spells of the game where we couldn’t get a foothold.

Must be a manager’s dream. Adaptable and always professional. Love him.

A superb professional and now our longest-serving player.*
*Longest-serving by date he joined the club. Dier made his competitive debut a few days earlier. Also excluding academy players, such as Skipp who's been here since 2008.

Been with us almost a decade now? Joined with Vorm in 2014 IIRC.

Model pro. Have a lot of respect for him. Great shift again today.

He’s been that good, it’s testament to him that we’ve been more worried about the RCB position without Romero. Will make way for VDV but gives us good reliable cover in a number of positions.

Giant, again. His mum and dad live around the corner from my best mate in Llangyfelach. Still amazing that a small Welsh housing estate produced two of our defenders (though Joe Rodon has moved on)… it’s a tiny place hah.

Very pleasing a good, hard working pro is getting his recognition. Not going to make an all star XI button can count on him to give everything he’s got
