Average the past couple of years? Sure, maybe last year as he adjusted to Ronaldo in the team (although he still scored double figures in all comps, but the season before he hit 22 league goals as a second striker. He seems fairly happy on the pre-season tour, and from reports, is happy to stay if neither of the Spanish giants come in for him. I'd rather see the club spend any Eriksen money on a DM and defender in any case. Make the squad more complete.
Dybala seems unnecessary given that he plays as a second striker, we don't play 4-4-2 anymore. No one does. The poor bloke is best-suited to a position that basically doesn't exist in modern football, unless you're Stoke or burnley. It's why he's been average over the past couple of years, Juve play the 4-3-3 like every other big club and he isn't as adaptable to that formation. He could play in a 4-2-3-1 behind the striker but then that's where Eriksen and/or lo Celso, Alli, and Lamela all play their best football. Having depth is good but that seems like overkill
If pre-season is anythign to go by and Eriksen does leave, then something like this could absolutely work:
Winks
Ndombele - Lo Celso/Dele
Dybala
Kane - Son
He could also fit in either of the positions further forward, Dele, Lamela and Lo Celso could all play in that 'number 10' role, and Lucas could fit in either of the two forward positions. There would be so many options, and with the two creative '8s' behind the font three, there would be less need for an Eriksen-type player to be the sole heartbeat of the team in possession, like he has been for so many years.Ndombele - Lo Celso/Dele
Dybala
Kane - Son
