Just to add to any argument that we should sign dybala:

He's the 10th most followed footballer on Instagram (currently the strongest social media platform from a marketing standpoint)
https://en.as.com/en/2018/10/12/album/1539338602_467132.html

He's still considered one of the most valuable players in the world (after his poor season, last year)

Players with such a strong marketing appeal/consideration are very rarely available and decently affordable.

I honestly hope you're right, but everything I've seen in pre-season suggests that the "new" formation is a tweaked version of the diamond we saw last season. The main difference being it's a little more of a 4-3-1-2 with 3 proper CMs and the no. 10 staying a little higher up the pitch.

I suppose there's a chance we're waiting for some more players to return so we can try a new system with 3 at the back, but if Poch was going to implement some other brand new system why wouldn't we be playing it already?
It would never be a 3 at the back as that system is absolutely reliant on fullbacks/wingbacks creating width.

I'm not totally convinced that Dybala is quite the genuinely world class footballer that everyone talks him up as (albeit he's certainly a very good player), but now you've pointed out that he's a big deal on Instagram I'll be distraught if we don't sign him.

Nah -

Juve [allegedly] after Lukaku...and Man Utd [allegedly] after Dybala. If those facts are true..well.

Just my 2 cents.

See, I thought that Lukaku to Inter, Icardi to Juve and Dybala to Spurs POTENTIALLY

Alli's form has dipped this past season, but there is nothing to suggest that won't change. He, like Kane, needs competition for their place. Simple as.
I don't think the Alli problem is really do to with form - it's all to do with position. Alli was banging in goals for fun when he was essentially playing as a second striker in a 4-2-3-1. He stayed high up the pitch and him and Kane had the most combinations of any front pairing in Europe.

As soon as we stopped playing that system Alli's form went down the pan as, in my opinion, he's quite simply not that good playing deeper. He's immensely talented but he takes too many touches and can't beat a man. He has moments of brilliance here and there but ultimately he slows our play down and almost always looks like he's not being utilised correctly. In my opinion this isn't going to suddenly change. He might hit a purple patch and score a few more goals, but his play style is largely the same as when he joined 5 years ago and I can't see him suddenly morphing into something new.

I wish I had a clue what that translation meant! Juve makes wall/thinks about relaunching. Does that mean they are considering keeping him unless they get a huge offer?
Makes wall means they block the offer from Tottenham, and will relaunch with a counter proposal, ie they'll name a higher price.

Everything points to us not creating width with fullbacks this year. Look at Pep's first season with Man City. Their fullbacks did not typically advance as high as they do for his side now. They would tuck in and offer an option to the midfielders and one of the 4 behind that striker that would drift wide. We could do similar with the players we have now (and are seemingly targeting), as we would rely on our creators to get wide instead of the fullbacks, who would remain more defensive. This lines up with Trippier and Rose (at least open to) leaving, as they are two of our more attacking options in the FB positions.

If you’d seen either of our games this preseason you’d know we’ve been setting up in a diamond with the only semblance of width coming from the fullbacks

Your link says he's 10th but the picture says 26th? Not putting us down but I would say his followers would decrease if he moved from Juve.

You honestly underestimate how powerful a marketing tool it is now.

Harry Kane has 8.6m followers, Dele Alli has 6.6m, HM Son 2.9, and Dybala 31.9m.

In most of our marketing media, which 3 players do you most often see? The ones with the most exposure because they sell the most merchandise.

In December 2017 (for that season, thus far) Kane was the 15th highest sold jersey on World Soccer Shop, Pogba the 8th, Neymar the 7th, Ibra the 6th and Dybala the 5th.

There is significant financial gain in having marketable players.

I think you're confusing prospective transfer value with social media followers.

Tottenham have had an opening offer of £45m for Paulo Dybala turned down by Juventus. The Serie A champions have set an asking price closer to £80m for the Argentine star. (La Stampa

I think Levy will drag this out.... if he intends to buy

I really don’t like how we’re setting up we’ve basically got 9 players in the middle and each fb left to cover each flank

I just hope this doesn’t become a sideshow that prevents us from getting in all our original targets. Securing Ndombele was excellent business but this guy will have some serious suitors who could easily wait in the wings while we lowball for a week or so, only for one of them to unfurl our trousers and goose us in the pods at the 11th hour

I enjoyed the envy from other fans when we signed Ndombele, so I think I would actually audibly moan if we somehow signed Dybala.
