His name isn’t labeled on the figures, but I looked up some of his stats and I think in most categories he would fall into the “very good, if not quite elite” category - except for aerial duels, which he seems to be absolutely dominant at.
Thanks.

imagine he’d still rank below
TorresGvardiol
But maybe similar to ndicka/ botman

after selling tchouameni for £100m not sure how much Monaco need to sell him though.

The over rating by Davies among some of the Spurs fans recently has been insane. This is a guy who is basically, a career second choice left back, has found a bit of a new life as a LCB under Conte, but he isn't an elite CB/ player, he's nowhere near. People talking like Torres or Bastoni would be back up to Davies is laughable. Davies is still guilty of some terrible bits of play in games where he shows his mediocrity. I was singing his praises for his improvement this season, but there is a reason LCB is one of Conte's priority positions.

Davies is a steady eddie but he isn't a CL quality LCB and you aren't winning major trophies with him as a starter.

you’re right mate. People are inflating how good Ben is. I still think Maldini edges it.

Like Bastoni, or Gvardiol, or the other players we've been linked with, I've barely seen this guy, and I'm amazed at just how much football some of you must watch given the conviction you have around these players!

Looks comfortable on the ball, but I have no idea how good a defender he is.

What I would say, is our player selection has improved markedly.
Romero, Bentancur, Deki - these have all been unbelievable buys.
We were going for Diaz too - clearly that would have been a good buy.
Emerson is OK - not a disaster given he's a RB playing in the wrong position
There's a good player in Gil, I'm convinced

So basically what I'm saying is that I'm happy contribute my musings on here, but I'm not really going to add much. But I do have a decent degree of faith in Fab and his team.

Simple fact is that Torres has been spoken about for a few years and linked to a lot of good clubs so he must be in the top 20ish CBs in football at the moment. As good as Ben and Dier have been this season people are not talking in the same way - even Romero was not getting as much attention prior to joining Spurs. There are few players that dont make mistakes but surely this guy is above the likes of sanchez, tanganga, rodon et al. in which case he would definitely be a positive improvement in the squad

Yeah when I read some people saying things like Torres would be our backup for Davies I wonder what planet I am on. Davies is a very solid player and a great squad player but he is no more than that.

I don't understand this take on Ben Davies, he is part of one of the best defences in the hardest league in the World.

He played all season, put down his stats and you call him a squad player.

What else are you looking for in a LCB?

I dont think that is fair on Davies. Its about partnerships and at the moment our defense are working in unison and together. Torres may well come in and not work with our defence. I havent seen much of Torres but he looks good on the ball but defending is another matter and this league is physical as well as pacey. Davies has proven it in our back three.

Also I think any defender we bring in will be part of a squad where we rotate. I dont think Torres is coming in to replace Davies but to have two players for that position

I still think it's Gvardiol we should be splashing out on, but I'd still be very happy with Torres. I don't get the sudden hate boner for him.

I don't think many are actually being disrespectful to Davies, I think most people realise how great he has been under Conte and how indispensable he has been so far.

The issue is if he goes down our whole back line gets knocked out of sync. As such LCB depth is an obvious squad weakness. If we are truly a club with serious ambition then the plan should be to try and improve on the starting XI with that signing and not just look for an able backup. If he comes in and Davies raises his level and keeps him out then that's great too.

If you stop and think how far Davies has come under Conte's coaching, how exciting could it be if you get one of the top CB prospects around to play under him and experience similar improvement?

His passing is clearly tailor made for a Conte side.

I think Torres is a good defender, and underrated by many on here. My one small concern with his ball playing is that he plays a lot of “floated” balls that I’m not 100% sure will be as effective in the Prem. For a Conte wide centre back, I think playing balls fast and to the feet of the strikers is the key criteria. I’m sure he can do that too though, I just haven’t seen enough of him.

Agree with many on here that he would look even better defensively in a three.

I did have that thought as well but a lot of his passes also put players beyond the last man in both central and wide areas which is quite impressive. Like you say the superior athleticism of PL full backs and wingers could increase the chance of dangerous interceptions. He'd probably have to cut out the floaty deeper ones.

Ndicka looks a better option to me at 20m for a left footed centre back. Then spend 40m on trying to get an excellent passing right-footed defender and try play out from the back on that side or in the middle. Is Kounde totally out of reach? I know he'd be more than 40m but he might be worth it. Koulibaly?
