Patience is one of the things, I think we as Spurs fan lack. So does the board it seems.

I think it's partly fuelled by are 'near-misses' (5th, 4th but no CL, 5th by 1pt, lasagne, Carling Cup loss on pens etc) and the feeling of some injustice or last-gasp failure on the pitch.

I'm generally a pessimistic guy - I was certain Southampton would score and even go on to win yesterday in the 5 added minutes. And I've realised it's my own Anti-Spurs-Disappointment Defence Mechanism. For instance if I ever get my hopes up that things are about to click, we lose 6-0. Or 7-1. Or from 3-0 up lose 5-3.

Saying that, the point of this post is that I feel pretty disheartened when I come on here and see a lot of disappointment shown in players like Paulinho, Chadli and Lamela and sometimes Soldado. There sometimes seems to be little balance, players are either "rubbish" or "brilliant" - a little like reviews on the iTunes store where every app is either 5* or 1*. I'm guilty of this too.

We have high expectations as Spurs fans, and rightly so with our fantastic history, players and the Spurs way to play but this needs to be tempered with some reality. We have won three cups in 22 years. We last finished higher than 3rd in the league in 1963 and in the last 10 years 4th has been our best position. In terms of revenue that is around where we are and we do not yet have a stadium to match the teams above us.

Despite this, we can punch above our weight. Players like those above may turn out not to meet expectation, but surely players need a little longer than 3 months to excel? Some do hit the ground running, but if they don't it doesn't make them rubbish.

Moving nation, culture, language, team mates, tactical styles needs to be overcome. Some of these players may never settle at Tottenham, which would be a real shame because they have in flashes shown why we stumped up the cash and I think with time they may perform more consistently.

I normally don't say stuff, message wise, but a touch of seriousness. While I think Levy has been successful running Tottenham Hotspur PLC, i am beginning to think he has reached a glass ceiling regarding Tottenham Hotspur F.C.

it really strikes me that outside Chelsea, managerial stability is a key part of having a successful football team and unfortunately , I think, Enic are caught between a rock and a hard place. they want to get past that 5th place, CL position regularly so the P.L.C. part of us looks much better in the shop window but they need a win at all costs view. the challenge, & I think we've seen this with AVB, is that we ought in players that on paper are wonderful but never tried together in a system. it , honestly , is a miracle that we are where we are at the moment.

The knock on AVB is his adherence to tactics, which i can understand - he wants to play the numbers game, but without his players ( expounded by the DoF view ) means that at one point would never be successfull/always have an excuse. Personally I liked him but was frustrated and saw the limitations - he was a step up from Harry ( yes, I'm nailing my colours to the mast here )

Further to this, AVB has never been at a job more than a calendar year and has not shown a track record of continued growth in a team.

anyway back on track - Mr Levy. What I believe he needs to do is choose an established manager ( Capello, Hiddink, Benitez ) and then use that as a platform for growing a number 2. Our hire and fire strategy just alienates us an F.C. and to be a successfull P.L.C we need the F.C.

lets get back to basics here, get in a manager that is globally respected ( IMHO AVB was not a respected manager, but he was a rising star ) and give the chap a 3 year plan and stick to it.

CL in 2015, my hope.

Sorry.
I do on occasion feel like I am being punished when that stuff happens.
But I think there have been enough high points, to stop me from tying the noose!

And I think if Ade and Soldado keep firing, we keep other key players fit, we'll put a run together.

Patient as long as I see progress - not every player going backwards under one manager's 18 month stewardship.

If Santa fails you, can we sack him too?

When success can be bought, patience goes out the window. Football has become do dependent on cash flow, that success is a commodity.

That's what the city fans asked about 4 years ago.

I thought this was about sher woods new song. ...

Said, Timmy, take it slow
And things will be just fine
You and I'll just use a little patience
Said, Levy, take the time
'Cause the lilywhites are shining bright
You and I've got what it takes
To make it, We won't fake it,
I'll never break it
'cause I can't take

Levy has done extremely well IMO. Whilst we have the income we have with no sugar daddy, that glass ceiling will be there regardless of who is in Levy's role. In fact, Levy is the reason we can even see the ceiling.
