Inspired by a comment by @Spurrific in the Traore thread about average players who always seem to turn up against Spurs, I thought it’d be fun to make a team out of them.

Just to be clear, I’m not on about genuine class players like Aguero or Henry who always seemed to score against us, I’m on about the likes of Ben Foster, who always seemed to play out of his skin against us.

My nominees for consideration are:

Ben Foster and Kevin Davies

Stan Collymore cost Aston Villa £7m and was their record signing at the time.

He was also an unmitigated disaster, scoring only 7 goals in 46 Premier League appearances between 1997 and 1999.

In other words, you'd have to be pretty shit to let Collymore score past you in his time at Villa.

You'd have to be really shit to let Collymore put two past you in his time at Villa.

And you'd have to be execrable in the extreme to let Collymore notch three against you in his time at Villa.

So how many did Collymore put past Spurs in that time?

Four.

He literally scored more against us than the rest of the league put together.

I wouldn't have minded quite so much if he was just your average sub-standard footballer trying to make a living, but, truth be told, Collymore was, and is, a right **** of the first order and it galls me that we burnished his record so that he came across as a fairly rubbish footballer instead of the really crap footballer that he was.

Can’t remember his name but the completely sub standard player that somehow scored a 35 yard first time toe blast against us ( for was it Wigan/Bolton/WBA ? ) during the Jol years. I was so annoyed I’ve deleted him from my memory.

Major credit to anyone who somehow takes this incredibly vague information and comes up with an answer. Think it either made the game 1-0, 1-1 or 1-2 ?

See I don’t remember Collymore being shite, but that’s probably because he always scored against us!

Ivan Campo?

nah it wasn’t. It was against a perennial lower quarter team and it was in the last 15 odd mins of the game. Guy never scored goals ever, and scored an absurd goal to cost us points. I’m currently trawling the internet and coming up empty !

Antonio - Usually spends 3 months injured but somehow gets fit against us and scores. Mind you, he has become a lot more consistent latey for them.

De Gea - Can drop a clanger for 37 matches straight, then plays us and saves everything. Still pisses me off that game at Wembley where he made 11 saves, we should have won that game about 7-1.

Not sure about him putting in worldies against us, but Ajose Perez always inexplicably seems to trouble us.

Only other ones I can think of are Tugay and Chris Samba for Blackburn?

I'm not sure if true - but in my head, as a 10ish year old in the late 90's, Muzzy Izzet.

It's a name that has stuck with me as always doing a job on us - but have no recollection whether that is actually the case?

Other than this goal of course..
