Ok now that ive got your attention

This is purely a hypothetical scenario, I dont know what made me think of it...but here it goes...

But lets say you had to create a football starting 11, and each position had to be filled by the same player - given the choice of any footballer, who would you pick?!

Now think wisely as many things come into it. The person you pick should obviously have a wide variety of attributes. Picking Lennon would be completely useless for example because he'd be pretty handy on the wings and up front, but useless everywhere else (no height to defend, terrible at heading, not very useful at tackling).

So the ideal player would obviously be someone with height, decent heading ability, an eye for goal, a bit of pace a decent engine and some ability to tackle.

Its a tough one...

Phil Jagielka - Obvious choice really, not a spectacular player but one who is competent in all areas of the pitch nonetheless, even in goal.

A truly versatile player.

Good choice

I think Wayne Rooney would be an excellent shout as well. I remember seeing a nike commercial in which he was playing in goal at the Utd training ground. He looked immense.

Edit - Here it is..

Stevie G for me, would make him wear the Liverpool kit though as he plays a lot better for them than England! Pace, power, technique, great tackler, great work rate, scoring ability and i would say he is one of the most complete players in world football

Id have to agree with that assessment. Stevie is probably THE most complete player in world football imo, its something ive always said.

As with the saying, jack of all trades master of none, id say stevie is a master of all trades. He is pretty exceptional in every department. No other player like him in world football...

Keane.

Think about it. He always seems to have pre-thought his run, hence the pointing waving and shouting so with a team of Keane's, we'd never lose the ball.

He is probably my favourite midfielder in football tbh. Shame he has never been fully utilised by England, the team should be built round him instead of him having to play on the left just because he can.
