After a couple of ludicrously biased Arsenal fans phoning in ("Song, Ramsey and Arteta would easily walk into Spurs' midfield" to replies of "Never, ever, ever" from Savage/Chappers and another saying "only Bale and Modric would get into the Arsenal first XI") Robbie Savage decided, along with Chappers and Jason Roberts, to draw up their North London XIs. Here they are:

Savage's: (6 Spurs/5 Arsenal)

Friedel
Walker - King - Vermalaen - Assou-Ekotto
Walcott - Ramsey - Modric - Bale
Wilshire
Van Persie

Robert's: (8 Spurs/3 Arsenal)

Friedel
Walker - King - Vermalaen - Gibbs
Lennon - Parker - Modric - Bale
Van Persie - Adebayor

Chapper's: (7 Spurs/4 Arsenal)

Friedel
Walker - Dawson - Vermalaen - Assou-Ekotto
Parker - Modric
Walcott - Wilshire - Bale
Van Persie

Some interesting views and shows how far we've come in recent years. Five years ago it would be almost a whitewash for Arsenal I reckon.

Chappers looks about right although I would probably take schczesny and king instead of friedel and daws

I'm surprised all three went for Friedel in goal, I think Szczesny is a very very good goal keeper and I'd rather have him.

I think Savage has picked the best team though but the best player in any of their 11s is Modric, and I just think Modric players better when along side Parker.

Friedel and Sczezny is a hard choice, maybe go with friedel for experience

but the rest is pretty straight forward for me..

Walker King Vermaelen BAE

Walcott Parker Modric Bale

Van Der Vaart

Van Persie

A month a go I would have taken Walcott but I think Lennon has shown how much more he can do then bomb down the right side recently. I'd also take the Arse keeper just because of age and thinking about the future.

Other then that I agree with your team.

I think the exercise became a joke when Roberts decided Gibbs was a better left-back than Ekotto.

Someone picked Dawson?!

It's all very hypothetical but I'd go something like this...

Friedel
Sagna King Vermaelen BAE
Parker
Wilshere Modric
VDV------------------Bale
RVP

Modric played slightly out of position as you HAVE to accommodate both Wilshere and Modric in a north London XI and only one can play in the middle alongside Parker who is a definite starter. Wilshere and Modric are very similar - Modric males the move out wide as he's more experienced and could handle the change a bit easier.

Van der Vaart
Van Persie

We win 9-2, cant see how Wilshere is ahead of Modric.
