Came to a very worrying realisation at the weekend. As I sat up @2.00am watching the Hull v Tootenham game here in Sydney I realised that there were no Spurs players on the pitch who I actually cared about. You know how it usually is. You always have a few players who you respect for their abilities but at the same time there also several who are your favourites...we all have them. Obviously as time goes on some move on but as a supporter since the early sixties there has always been someone. Greaves...Jennings...Conn...Hoddle...Gazza...Ginola...Campbell....King....Bale....Huddlestone....Keane...
Berbatov ...Defoe but now no one. they all just seem like players picking up a pay check. Of course it is the team we support but a brief scan of the SC pages will illustrate that we all usually have our favourites. iAm I the only one who who has run out of 'give a shit' with our players?

I quite like the fact we have Lloris although he sends to have been found out a little too often lately due to his well publicised rushing out.
I love Vertonghen. Although worry he's off in the summer.
I'm liking Paulinho who I think still has more to offer. Same for Eriksen.
I don't care what people here think, I enjoy watching Ade play.
Same for Lennon.

I admit there's not really any world class players at the moment but that's how it generally is. Someone may rise to that level.
It might be Eriksen, Paulinho, Lamela? But as we're not big enough to retain them they'll probably leave and we'll have to replace them with another up and coming player.

One word.

Sandro.

Same for me, he's been a favourite of mine since he pulled the shirt on.
Maybe the problem for some is that we've got a lot of new players in a short spell of time, give it time, I'm sure when it all settles down a bit we'll all have a few more favourites to add to our lists.

Players come and players go. As does success.

I grew up in the 90s. In 2005 I danced like a loon in the stands when we qualified for Europe through the league for the first time in forever.

In 2008 I celebrated the carling cup win like I had found the key to Kelly Brooks knicker drawer.

Being a fan is what you make it. If you are in it for the wrong reasons (glory) you will ultimatley be disappointed at some point.

I'm not sure the OP is saying he is a glory hunter, I kinda get what he is saying.

there isn't anyone we 'love' anymore.... We lost Bale and I think its hurt the club massively.
We've gone thru the pain of losing Bale and now if we sold anyone else it wouldn't hurt nearly as much and this period between losing Bale and finding someone else to replace him will be a numb period.

if Lamela & Soldado had come in and scored goals and blitz the prem we wouldn't be thinking this but no one has stepped up to the plate this season and its painful to watch.

We've done well to hang onto the glimmer of hope in the Top 4.... we just need to 'click' but we been waiting a long time.

lets face it though, we've had worse seasons...... ;-)

Sandro, Sandro, Sandro!

Although for some bizarre reason I have a soft spot for Soldado as well.

Isn't the OP talking about the players on the pitch at the Hull game?

Sandro wasn't playing was he?

Seriously, none?

I know he's in poor form, and is probably a bit over the hill at 29 after a few years of injuries, but here's a guy who has learned from the best, been at the club for 9 years and played his heart out every week.

*Was a picture of Daws celebrating after Bale's goal vs Sunderland, have to take it down because of copyright.

He rejected a bigger paycheque at Queens Park to stay on. He changed AVB's mind and here he is.

Townsend – Spurs fan – Academy product – trains like a demon – takes responsibility on the pitch - plays with flair - seems like a decent lad. Enjoy watching him and want to see him do well.

Sandro of course is a beast, and a great guy. I really like Lloris, has his odd moments but when he comes off his line and makes a quality block or pulls off saves like the Aguero header last week I remember why I like him so much. Vertonghen when he gets back into the swing of things is class. Just look at that goal last year when he did that lovely burst and linked up with Bale.

Out of the new boys - I really like the look of Eriksen. He does blow hot and cold, sometimes goes missing, but he has that touch of quality about him that, if developed right, will put him on that Modric/VDV level.

Just a few things...this ain't about missing world class players. I don't mind Sandro but much of what is spoken about on here about him is potential because injuries have consistently kept him out of side...In time perhaps he will become the hero for what he does for us not what hope he does....my Ulster friend being 600 gamer for Spurs allows me to have an opinion on a player like Campbell for what he did on the field for us. Perhaps you never saw him play and parrot the thoughts others. He carried us on his back as a player for decade...he was what Sandro might become.....that he made a life changing mistake is something he will take to the grave
