Hardly anyone on here wanted Kulusevski when we were linked with him so fingers crossed this 23 year old(!) Italian International has the same impact.
The great migration of posters from the Lenglet thread to this one has begun. Recognisable from their familiar chirps of 'BUT DEKIIIIIII', they are a difficult force to overcome as any argument shall be instantly dismissed.

Why are some people so against him out of curiosity? is it purely because of the knee injuries? As he's a very good football player and some of you are talking like he wouldn't be a good addition to the team...???
You have to remember a lot of posters on here base their opinion on Transfermarkt stats, and 5 minutes of YT clips. If one poster declares a player is shit with enough gusto, there will be more than enough willing to jump on board with very little actual knowledge.

I'd take a punt on Zaniolo at the right price, especially if it means moving Ndombele on. But I'm curious what happened with Juve as that seemed pretty much nailed on just a few days ago.

I’ve not seen much of the player but I’m interested by the negative reaction. All I can see on Twitter is Juve supporters being really happy at the prospect of signing him, and Roma supporters salivating at his link up with Dybala. Again, I’m more than willing to go with Paratici/Conte on this one. Many weren’t fussed by Kulusevski and he has fitted our squad like a glove, they will have a plan if we sign him I’m sure.

What I would say, for those that don’t know him, is his best position and the one one he grew up playing is AMC, he’s also adept at CM. It’s only recently he’s been given extended time as RWF. So in that regard he is very versatile.

This is one where it’s going to be down to Conte to rebuild him into the player he was pre Injury. As I mentioned when we were first linked, there was a time when he was considered the best prospect in Italy. By a long distance our riskiest transfer, but IF it works he could be a superstar. It’s a big IF tho.

I also am not sure he is exactly an alternative to maddison as he might just be a lucas replacement? Since Lucas is now a RWB with 3 other RWB in the squad lol

If Conte wants him, who cares?!

Seem to remember very similar comments when we were linked with Kulusevski and look how that's turned out.

It's amazing what a change of club and world class manager can do. Maybe hold off on the flop comments until he's actually had a chance to prove himself ??‍♂️

Following the blockbuster signing of free agent Paulo Dybala - a deal which was confirmed on Wednesday - 90min understands that Roma believe they can convince Zaniolo to stay the club. Jose Mourinho has held talks with the player about potentially remaining at Stadio Olimpico, and has suggested playing the attacking midfielder as a wing-back.
With Juve's move for the Italy international being scuppered, Tottenham have re-emerged as a contender for his signature. Spurs' managing director of football Fabio Paratici is in talks with Roma regarding a potential deal.
Earlier in the transfer window, 90min reported that Tottenham - like Juventus - were keen to offer players in any bid to sign Zaniolo, with Wales international Joe Rodon being one of the players discussed. Rodon was signed under Mourinho at Tottenham, but has scarcely featured during his time in north London.

We are going to need a big squad, its not like he will be a make or break signing, he will have to earn his right to play in the first team, and I am sure, if we sign him, any deal will reflect this and his injury history.
Could be a win, but if not, its not going to be a massive disaster.

Would be up there with the worst signings made this summer. Never fit, not particularly good at anything, not suited to the prem. Be a deadweight we would be trying to move next summer. We must have some seriously shit scouts
Are you talking about Zaniolo here?

If so have you actually ever seen him play lol?!

Each to their own and all that but as I’ve said before I watch a ton of Serie A being partly Italian and I said that Bentancur & Kulu would be a great success and to ignore the Juve forums etc and corrected a few people about the style of play of both players.

Now as for Zaniolo, to say he is not particularly good at anything is absolutely hillarious and just so wrong.

In terms of him never being fit, yes he has had some injuries but last season of the first 24 Serie A games he only missed 1 through injury, just 1! And he only missed 4 games through injury in the league the whole season, all very minor issues.

Three seasons ago he was available for the first 19 games in a row, then he suffered a massive twin ACL cruciate ligament rupture and was out for about a season and a half recovering from that. Since he’s been back as I said aside from the odd small muscular injury he’s been very available.

Now as to my opinion on this one, as ever the main thing is does Conte want and rate him and if he does then happy days.

From my perspective, I’d prefer Maddison, however Zaniolo is only 23 and before his massive injury he was literally THE next big thing in Serie A being labelled by Roma fans as the next Totti and being linked with all the big teams out there. So on one hand there is a small risk he won’t quite reach those heights again however he is still playing at a good level, offers us an option different to anything we have right now and a fresh start under Conte’s tutorlidge could be just what he needs to re-ignite his pre ACL tear form. He could play RWF or ACM & CAM and would offer us something completely different to what we have right now.

This is a good article for those who want to know more about him and his history and how he’s regarded by the Roma fans:
