Please not fucking Tuchel. I've accepted under the current regime we probably won't win much. I've made my peace with that. But playing Tuchel ball after the crap we've been served up for 4 seasons... Yeah I'll be done.

So this is the morning I expected us to announce our new manager. This is the morning we need to announce our new manager.
Trouble is if it's Ange then he still has a cup final to come. I don't think we're particularly close to anyone so definitely not for a few days.

I haven't actually been impressed with Ten Haag. His football seems uninspiring, and if it wasn't for some special players doing special things, and other teams dropping off a cliff, I don't think United would have been near top 4.
We shall see how next season goes but for right now I'm happy we didn't hire him.
I agree, on the whole I think he has been ok. End of the day it got them a trophy.

However they scraped champions league despite Liverpool's disastrous start to the season and us and Chelsea being awful and spending unwisely. They really tailed off and to be honest they looked average in the 2-2 to us.

You can hardly say Antony was a great buy can you.

So important that our next manager can both sort of defence out and get us playing some attacking football again. Also whoever it is must work well with the DOF. That is why for now I can trying to steer clear of speculation and waiting to see what unfolds.

So, back to reality...

Preseason to start 3rd July going by the usual norms. Thats 35 days to go.

We need to get the new manager in by end of this week. Otherwise , we risk losing so many player targets.

Unless we crack on regardless. Not ideal but vital.

If we hire Mason, we would literally be watching him learn on the job for the next 18 months. He's already made some very good decisions but some very rookie mistakes (which he does look like he's learning quickly from) but just too big of a job this time around

Possibly get negged to within an inch of my life here and probably indulging in a massive dose of confirmation bias but, for me, JN is our guy and has been top/joint top since pretty much day 1. I know our management have shown their apparent incompetence on more than one occasion but not to be actively going after him would be up there with anything they have or haven't done during their tenure. Perhaps there's something I've missed and I'm sure i will be soon corrected but my reasoning is as follows:

He has the profile we should be and we seem to be looking for.
Levy is a fan and wanted him before his stint at Bayern.
He's turned down Chelsea and has commented on that.
We vehemently denied being in contact (methinks too heavyhandedly).
He's made no comment on the link with us.
We don't really seem to be actively pursuing anyone else, even though we've been without a manager for 2 months now even though it has probably cost us Europe in what could be HK"s last season.

Now I'm going to try and square the above circle as it just doesn't make sense to me otherwise.

Bayern retain his registration.
They've been a bit of a shitshow internally for the past few years too.
Due to this, they removed one of the (potentially) top German managers in the world, while a point off the head of the table (with game in hand iirc), while deep in the CL (and unbeaten in that competition) and while still being in the German Cup.
This internal unease has further being proven by their removal of OK and HS from their jobs in the aftermath of winning the league. Two of their many legends.
They paid a lot of money to get him out of his previous contract and have put him on gardening leave to try and recoup some of their outlay so perhaps we're waiting for them to blink first. Perhaps the rumoured clause for reduced compensation was only active in the last few years of his contract and they retain a +1 option. Maybe that's why we were so vehement about having no interest.
For me, AS ticked all the boxes too but a little less proven in a lesser league yet we didn't really seem to put our best foot forward there. We flirted. The optics of giving chase were there, but we seem to not to have tested the depth of feyenoords resolve to keep their man.
The whole DOF thing feeds into this flight of fancy too. Maybe we haven't appointed anyone yet because our choice could be considered to be a "Nagelsmann choice" and would keep Bayern on their toes about potentially recouping some of their outlay.
Unsure whether Bayern winning the title and potentially resolving some of their internal issues has put a spanner in the works or has helped our cause but hopefully, with this being the end of the season, we'll be put out of our misery soon.

I know the above is a very positive spin. Littered with ifs/buts/maybes and gives our board an awful lot of perhaps undue credit but it's helping me sleep at night.

I'm sure we will be all over Leicester, Southampton and Leeds squads looking for potential bargains

There are some very very good young players in Southmapton squad especially.
But to be able to do that, we need figure head DoF/Manager in the club. Otherwise by the team we are ready, those targets would be playing for rival clubs.

We are put in such a dire situation now. To think we know Conte's heads gone in January but not acted for 5 months is just disgraceful

Got to try and think positively about it mate. Lots want to revel in the negativity but in reality we need to put on our big boy shorts and get on with it. We’ll probably have someone in place within the next fortnight and as long as though it’s a sensible appointment we can all move on. No point listening to any of the noise, nobody has a clue what’s going on.

Reading some of the comments re Slot, he actually preferred to stay where he was, with a winning team and CL qualification. Not Levy’s fault!
Now to Postecoglu - he also manages a successful team who have qualified for CL, so again why would he want the pressure of Spurs?
We need an up and coming like Poch was, a manager with a good grounding who looks at us as a step up and not a step down. I have no idea who that is. We just have to hope that Levy and Munn know more than me and have some names who think managing Spurs is something they actually want to do, and not just a quick pay day as they’ll get sacked in 3-6 months🥺
Sporting manager Rúben Amorim maybe?

My nephew works at a private airport in London and he told me a few days ago that Tuchel flew in. He also spoke to Kane’s camp on the phone whilst waiting for a driver.

Im not claiming this to be ITK, and i had assumed if true this would be more about him trying to tempt Kane to Munich. However, in light of the news this morning…. 👀
I am not doubting your info but I am puzzled how somebody would know who a person was talking to on the phone
