Not sure want Pinto is doing on this list. The fact that Liverpool talked to him means that he must have something about him as their owners are a gaping chasm more competent than Levy, but still…
Yet he does say we haven't met him face to face.
Pinto goes against the data driven recruitment department we seem to be trying to create and a wrong match entirely. So it will probably be him.
It's really nuts how slow this is. It really shows the club upThings hotting up

Hmm, not sure I like the sound of “big operator”. I want someone younger, driven, and data-led.Things hotting up

"Most important that the club has a clear strategy" Spors said.I think it must be the Rangnick connection with Spors and Nagelsmann.
Snippet from a Guardian interview with Spors.
Younger, he's only 35 lol, how do you know he's not driven or uses data?Hmm, not sure I like the sound of “big operator”. I want someone younger, driven, and data-led.
The Spors and Nagelsmann connection has been answered by others above. Obviously the overlap at Hoffenheim, but I was actually holding up the Rangnick connection as most notableDid we establish that this was indeed the deal breaker for Nagelsmann as I struggle to see how for instance if we appoint Steidten that would be far less acceptable to him for his 'project' at Tottenham?
Also i'm right in saying aren't I that at no point did Spors and Nagelsmann ever work together?
I'd hope the mystery man is Michael Edwards and he'd be the dream appointment.
If Levy hires yet another poor fit and old school type like Pinto, he's a moron.

I wasn't necessarily going down the route of German manager + German sporting director = harmonious partnership - it was more in terms of why, hypothetically of course, could Nagelsmann not be able to fulfill his work here under a guy who's renowned for being a top talent spotter 'tis all.The Spors and Nagelsmann connection has been answered by others above. But to answer your other question on Tim Steidten, I think it’s a bit easy to say that he and Nagelsmann would be a perfect combo because they’re both German. (To be honest I subconsciously jumped to this conclusion myself)
But when you actually think about it, the fact that they’re both German doesn’t mean that they both like/rate each other at all.
Steidten has actually only been responsible for one managerial appointment in his career, and despite the bounty of great German managers out there he actually opted for a Spaniard in Xabi Alonso.
I'd hope the mystery man is Michael Edwards and he'd be the dream appointment.

For the uneducated (me) among us, can someone advise where the DoF role has really worked? Is it the same as Sporting Director (i.e., which has clearly worked at Liverpool)?
How did Pinto do at Benfica? I remember a while back @rossdapep was talking about how one of the Portuguese teams (pretty sure it was Benfica) really turned it round under a new manager. Did Pinto have anything to do with that?
Are people against him because of alleged Mendes links or because he brought Jose in to Roma?
