London Lions ... if we're taking bets.
Yes. Lions, Bulldogs. Maybe an outside chance of something to do with Spitfires. Yawn.

Werewolves maybe would be fun. Already have a song for that and everything. Bit gimmicky though having a mythical creature as the mascot.

Not that we're jinxing the possibility of a London franchise or anything...:D

I'm vaguely surprised that there hasn't been any discussion of integrating a basketball facility into the stadium designs.
Does anyone know ifi indeed this has ever been discussed?

How would basketball which is normally played in indoor arenas be played in a football stadium?

Are the seats as close to the pitch as they were in the original KSS design, If they are further away by how much?

A poster on Skyscraper city posted this. It our seating plan versus the Olympic stadium on football mode. Somebody else (can't remember who) worked it out at being 8.1 meters on the West, east and north side. And 5.1 on the south side. Versus 8.2 in the old design.

So wait, the glass front is completely hanging from the roof above it. The supporting pillars behind it are simply for the stand. With the hanging glass front creating an unobstructed path into the stadium.

Using calculations based on the tiny people underneath it. The things going to be massive. And incredibly impressive.
Its simply to save weight but whilst it does look impressive, it does have its drawbacks

For example we will have a kop stand that has a shallow rake meaning that it won't be as intimidating as say Dortmunds despite being having more rows

A configuration like Lilles stadium would allow that to happen but there is the O2 arena so there isnt any need for it

Pretty much the same on the North, west and East stand(actually 10cms closer but 3metres closer on the south stand

It wouldn't but with the huge amount of space underneath and the relatively small size of basketball arenas in the uk, combined with its growing popularity both in schools and as a spectator sport, I just wondered whether it had ever been considered, and if so what the pros and cons were seen as. I figure there could be potential synergies somewhere in there.

Some basketball games have been played outdoors recently.

Btw, an NFL franchise in London is not gonna happen.
I certainly wouldn't expect a genuine franchise in London to happen within 20 years if I'm honest. Not unless something drastic changes. The nuffle have to get back into the LA market first for example. Long road to go.

Logistically it still seems a little bit out there as well. Maybe if you had another couple of European cities with a similar interest in hosting then maybe a division could be had but for right now, I have to think the expanded amount of London games for the next decade will be it.

Maybe interest will wane after all?

I could see it happen if tectonic plates move again and pangea starts to re form;)

It'll still be plenty tight enough then. The figures of 6 meters or so ring a bell wrt the Lane and we're one of the tightest grounds in the country as is.

Aye. It's making people money for the right here and now. No sure it needs to do anything else. In fact, were Nodnol to be awarded a franchise then the exotic nature of the games would quickly wane and it would likely end up being a financial disaster. Think of the Jags but with less sun.

This will likely happen shortly with a joint venture between Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers in Carson and Stan Kroenke vying to take the St. Louis Rams over to LA - one or both could well be viable.

If it was any team you'd imagine it would be the Jacksonville Jaguars - a team that's generally in the doldrums and not a big market in Jacksonville, plus the fact they've been over here consistently since Wembley started to host regular season games.
