Any idea why the attendance was less than 60,000? I thought tickets were like gold dust.

Saw a empty seats on east stand corporate box level which is third tier up, can't see that level in west stand from where I sit so don't know how many there. Also for some reason the two rows in front of the wheelchair positions in north west and north east corners seemed to be left unused for some reason. Away section seemed to have a handful of empty seats. Nice to see we would seem to be honest with the attendance and not just base it on seats sold , if some corporate areas were not full or sold seats didn't attend then they shouldn't be counted as attendance unlike some clubs but their names escape me.

I was also north 113 and was impressed with the amount of noise we made. If anything, I was disappointed the Park Lane didn't make more racket

Noise will improve as people get used to their seats, their place in the stadium, become more familiar with those around them etc. I'm pretty sure movement around the ground and the logistics issues/lack of space will improve over time as well since there will be far fewer people going for an explore to see the new ground and everyone will settle into their routine of where they eat/drink and go to their seats etc. The concourses are always going to be tight because our stand rake is so steep.

One thing I wish they would've gone for though is quite a lot of slim eating "touch down" bars - literally just a 10 inch wide, long flat panel bar with an equally thin seating bar alongside it, either against a wall or just in the middle of the concourse - takes up almost zero room and means lots of people can just perch to sit and eat. I take my sister to games now and again and owing to illness she can't stand for more than a few minutes, my wife is the same as she has arthritis, so a bit more consideration for those people who literally just need to be able to take the weight off their feet would've been great. It's possible of course that if this message is relayed these improvements could be made in the future as they're very minor.

Also, this was only Palace, and they basically just sat back the whole game - not exactly the kind of thing that drives the fans to frenzy.

If we put up a good fight against City and the game is pretty toe-to-toe, it'll be fucking deafening, especially if/when we score. I remember the 2-1 against Everton years ago when Soldado scored the winner - it was a pretty even game and Everton gave us a good battle, and due to the cut-and-thrust of it all, and the obvious major efforts being put in by the players, the whole stadium was literally rocking for the whole game - just has to be the right type of game/occasion for the best noise to come out.

I was in the South stand upper, was a good atmosphere everyone standing and singing a fair bit.The shelf got involved too. It seemed like the was not a peep from the north stand from where we were... could hear the constant drone from palace though

Pitch side part of the stadium was amazing, felt like White Hart lane on steroids!

In the concourse though it was packed, it was difficult trying to get food/drink, the goal line bar was sectioned off when I arrived about an hour before kick off so we went elsewhere but the Tap inns were so small it seemed mad. We had to go to the top floor to stand a chance at a bar. It did surprise me, how small the bars were, most likely I'll revert to getting food/drink outside the ground before the game.

Dunno what that song with the kids was about but it wasn't a good advert for the sound system. Could hardly make it out at all there was so much echoing. I hope it sounded better in the stadium than it did on the Tele!
Yep. Sounded like a really bad sound mixing job for that first song. Sound levels for the band were too loud, and too much echo on the girl’s voice. Sounded better for the Glory, Glory song.

The sound for the video intro's to the new stadium sounded great.
It did, but the pre-recorded stuff is totally different from live performances where you have multiple mics, sound sources etc., In that first live song performance, there was a choir, a band, two different vocalists, and maybe other pre-recorded tracks for musical backing

The end product didn't sound good at all. That's a sound engineer's/mixer's job who spends time with the performers to get the right mix of levels for the acoustics of the venue prior to the performance.

Not a knock on the sound system at the ground at all; they have the best.

Interesting, obviously the perception of sound varies a lot from different areas....maybe it was just me and the few around me making a load of noise! Saying that, I've always been Park Lane and didn't expect any noise from Paxton but not a single person in my block sat down at any point throughout the 90 and it felt like we were getting involved a lot.

Looked (and sounded) amazing on TV, can't wait to finally see it in person.

Getting tired of pundits harping on about how long the stadium took, when I look at the thing and think that less than 24 months ago we were playing on the same spot in a completely different stadium, 2 years doesn't seem so bad.

They really should make the away section narrower, put them on two/three tiers. As is they’re covering to much pitchside. Would get the upper sections of our fans engaged as well as breaking up the away fans.

I don't think the concourses are too narrow I just think there are too many people using them, they are a victim of their own success, same goes for the beer, if they based beer sales on the old ground and multiplied they didn't multiply by enough as everyone seems to be having a beer now, maybe it'll settle down eventually.

Probably just the coverage I was watching but seemed a bit underwhelming when you could hear the palace fans more than ours.

Maybe a mixture of new surroundings for many, and the tense environment of the first game meant we were a bit reserved but doesn't mean the atmosphere won't be hostile on Tuesday

Was thinking that maybe the fans being there 2 hours before the game, on a weekday night. Probably tired themselves out a bit

Let's hope so. I'm glad the new stadium is comfortable for fans and a great place to generally spend time, but the number 1 concern has got to be the impact to the players of the fans.

Against shit like Huddersfield etc we could get away with it being a bit flat, but next week we all need to come together and make use of those U2 acoustics. Get Bono in if we need to!

Next week we're gonna need every marginal gain we can get to beat City. The old atmosphere when we beat them at the lane needs to return.

The point made by Levy that the stadium was worked on for 18 years and ended up being just 6 months late puts it in perspective. We’re there now and walking down the high road after the game felt like I’d never been away. It has been worth the wait.

Half an hour to queue up to buy a beer isn’t acceptable. There is no form of queuing system. The beer pumps were not working properly and the poor staff (who didn’t have a clue) were poring part pints and then having to ‘make’ pints by filling a single glass from multiples by hand. It took forever. The concourses were chaos at every level and at all the time.

Doubt I’ll ever get to go down to the Marketplace - there is a capacity of 3.5k and of course people get there early. Because it’s like a sports bar people do not get a drink and stand back or leave. They remain in situ or sit on the stairs down to it. The club will not sell much food down there because of this lack of flow. Fans will find alternative ways to eat and drink (outside) and it will get down to a more manageable level in all probability.

My view in the South Stand upper is good as a view goes but I feel detached from the game, as I used to sit on the Shelf. I’m very conscious I’m just a very small spec amongst the 60k fans now and my view of the opposite end is not great in comparison. You get what you pay for I guess. Getting to the loo at halftime was also a struggle - glad I only managed to get that 1 pint! My transport has been affected (negatively) also.

I have not been blinded by the new stadium, and will wait for quite a while to draw my final conclusions on it. But there could be a chance of ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’ for me. I hope I’m to be proved wrong though.

A corporate juggernaut rolling forward. Maybe me being naive in my expectations though.

These track cam systems are fitted to the stands. They're two boxes of cameras with each wifi controlled to track each individual player on the pitch, guided by chips in their shirts (same system as collect players stats). But with the cameras at half time Poch has a screen in the dressing room and he can spin to any minute in the game and show any individual player what he was doing wrong or right. Next level shit.
