Got to sort whatever can be recycled etc. too.

The demolition will be quick I would guess, but the sorting and then transportation of everything will take time.

Mace have stated that materials will be sorted for recycling at a facility off site - which is both faster, and also reduces impact of noise and dust on local residents.

I'd say they'll have cleared the Paxton and West Stand within 3-4 weeks, which is the critical path necessary to allow for the New WHL South stand and basement for the pitch.

Apparently the roof construction isn't scheduled to start until January, so we're well on track.

Looking at those pictures and I think I've just found my dream job

Getting paid to drive big ass machines and demolish stuff, what's not to like.
Standing at the top of a giant chimney knocking it down from under yourself one brick at a time with a sledgehammer, now that's where it really gets exciting.

I worked in demolition for years, absolutely loved it and would go back tomorrow if it wasn't for the money

Not sure if this has been covered before, but looking at the amount of land between the West Stand and the High Road, rather than demolishing the whole ground and starting again, could we not have just pulled down the West Stand and built a new, much bigger and better-featured West Stand with three tiers? Surely we could have added up to 10,000 seats that way?

Clearly the brand new stadium will have ~15,000 more seats than that might have resulted in, but at a much, much grater cost. I guess Levy et al are banking on the predicted greater commercial profile of the club / new ground increasing our future earning potential above and beyond the extra cost associated with a complete rebuild?

I am sure costs played a large part in the decision making but as a fan, I am happy they went for the new build. Liverpool's main stand is, on the face of it, a huge success. Built on time and in budget, it will be fully paid for in 5 years owing to the revenue it is generating. That said, incorporating that giant stand alongside two smaller stands has made the corners rather disjointed. The sides which connects the main stand to the kop and anfield road ends are raised and therefore have a boxed in feel. Resulting in their being little connection between fans in those three tiers. They couldn't chant an equiviliant to 'we're the park lane, we're the shelf side' because they wouldn't see each other.

Also if you are in the top tier of the new main stand, the roof of the anfield road tier obscures some people's view.

As with all things, they have a cheaper solution and are having to put up with the comparises of it.
