I wonder how local businesses like Chick King and most of the local pubs that obviously get a big boost during the football season are gonna cope when we are at Wembley next term, I can't see many of them holding out unless they have properly prepared ahead of time. I was thinking the other day that this isn't just the end of an era in terms of WHL but the whole match day experience could change massively also.

Definitely. Nkoudou is big in the chicken game ;).

But seriously the dude is 23... My mate runs a Radio station in Peckham and got him to do a review on Morley's chicken up that way, showed me his Twitter replies to the questions about his age. I didn't believe it either til I saw it from the horse's mouth.
I saw an interview with him where he said that was a lie, think he's around 15.

When will it be redeveloped though? Haringey are due to anounce the developer in the summer. They might well buy up those properties by the time we move in.

Will all this be available to us peasants, or is it only for the cheese and wine brigade?
Obviously 'the cheese and wine brigade' is the new 'prawn sandwich brigade'.

The 86 metre bar and brewery are for us peasants I think, everything else I imagine is for the rich folk. Which is a shame, because I'm always at WHL thinking "This is a cracking match so far and we're playing well. If only I had a personal cheese waiter for the 2nd half." ;)

“Someone from the club told me that our competition for this stadium isn't the Emirates [the stadium of Tottenham’s bitter rival Arsenal, which was also designed by Populous]. Our competition is the local High Street. The aim is to get fans to come in and to come in earlier, to dine with us and to experience the stadium. On many levels this approach to the community is the thing that’s changed most in the last 15 years of stadium design.”

Interesting. I hope and believe that this will fail. It's a wanker's trick. And the choice of restaurants and bars locally is actually rather good, support for the local community aside.

I like the idea. It will help a lot with congestion if people spend longer in the stadium and will also make the club more money.
With more fans and nfl/concerts etc... there will be more people using local restaurants aswell.

The whole haringey master plan, improved transport, cross rail 2 and tottenham hale becoming a transport hub will mean the whole area will be transformed in the next decade.

I get that there's a bigger pie. I'd still rather that small, locally-owned businesses benefit from it than that the club actively competes against them with its own shish restaurants and chicken joints.

On the congestion issue, I don't get what difference there is between people eating locally and in the Haribo-Gola UBERdome.

If the transformation and regeneration means that the H-G Ud is competing solely against chain pizzerias and tex-mex hellholes, then that's fine from an ethical standpoint but depressing in every other way.

You might be right. Just think that if you are leaving and you see them showing the 17:30 match and the bar open you might stay for a pint or two before the long walk down to seven sisters.

The regeneration has been badly needed and was cried out for after the riots. To say it's depressing from an ethical standpoint is a bit strange. Yes some businesses may close but many others will open. 10000 new houses are going to be built and probably occupied by people with a bit of money. I'm against gentrification in some cases but tottenham needs it.

Sorry, I meant that competing against the chains would be ethically okay in a way that aggressively competing against locally owned businesses wouldn't. It would depress me if Tottenham looked a lot blander, but you're right, jobs and houses come first, the aesthetic and dining preferences of a very occasional visitor to the area are irrelevant.

I really hope we're teaming up with Beavertown. I know that they had conversations about it.
Bloody hell - every corporate diversion is being catered for.
When do we get to see the 3D virtual tour of the BDSM basement playzones?
