That said, we do have to start playing the 'lesser' teams like every game is a cup final. Need to remove that occasional complacency.

I like our never-say-die attitude too, but be that as it may, we've got to seriously re-evaluate our chances of making top 4 via the League after today's draw.

I think for the next little while, we should focus on the Europa and the League Cup for our chances of glory.

However badly we might have played today, even the most critical fan must surely be happy with the fantastic spirit and mental strength of this team.

Agree the ability to keep coming back is to be admired but boy we were shit today maybe the worst game i have seen us in.
Not at it at all and second best to nearly everything and yet we get something so cant be bad.

It's a mark of a good team to come back so many times like we have done.

It's a mark of a GREAT team to come out of the blocks aiming to smash teams from the very beginning
But we did. First 15 we hit the post and there keeper made a great save.
We totally dominated up and until.
Then we backed off for some reason.
Something for Poch to work on.

A midday kick off at home i felt was always going to benefit West Ham. The atmosphere was flat the team were flat. Like Liverpool West Ham were cuter tactically, but except for their 1 legit goal they only had 1 real banker that Hugo saved. We were sloppy but when we got momentum in the last 15 minutes and the crowd got into gear I bet West Ham fans in their arm chairs knew what was coming. I think a draw was a fair result in the end, but teams must know by now we don't give up. The spammers really did fuck it up.

A point we gained from a game they thoroughly deserved to win.

Perspective.

Anyway, way to find something negative to bring to this thread. (y)

They thoroughly deserved to win and drew, some of our rivals (MU and Arsenal amongst) deserve to lose and win.

It's just called realism.

Liverpool are already up against Saints, yeah, of course it's worth celebrating based on the fact we were 0-2 down, but we should never have been, similar to how we never needed to let Liverpool score 3 goals against us. Call it tiredness or laziness, but just because we beat Arsenal means nothing and they need to know that. That's three bad results after a win, after we beat Chelsea we lost to Palace, drew with Burnley, knocked out by Leicester (not the right order).

I think it's fine and dandy being optimistic, but there's a difference between that wilful ignorance. Come squeaky bum time, Arsenal and Liverpool are stepping it up and we are once again slacking off. Honestly, would you rather beat Arsenal and finish below them, or lose to them and finish above them?

Our squad mentality remains one of a small-time team. Not a death sentence, but far off from our targets.

I don't mean to be a knob mate, but you seem to constantly point to events that have happened in one specific match to make your points about us as a team and it just isn't valid in that context

I'm talking in general terms about us over the entire season. We come out of the blocks quickly sometimes, score, then we seem to just chill and think 'Ah, it's cool, we're 1-0 up that will do at the end of the match' but that's not how football works and 'winners' after they score that goal will be wanting to get straight back to that half way line to keep twisting the knife. We show a real 'never say die' mentality, but we are far from the winning mentality that we all want to see

I agree to an extent.
But it is MPs first season.
That's why I'm saying something to work on.

Can anyone give me any logical explanation as to why we didn't play the first 80 minutes like we did the last 10?

Most will probably point to two key points of the game, Noble being taken off to prevent a red card and our supposedly superior fitness.
HOWEVER - Coming on strong from a losing position is nothing new in football. All kinds of teams have been doing it for decades, maybe centuries.

For me it's the attitude of "we're losing already, it can't really be worse, let's just fucking go for it and try and get something rather than being cautious"

In my own humble opinion, if we took that attitude from the start of matches against teams like west ham and other lesser Teams we've failed to beat, we'd fucking pogger them. Did you see how many players the committed forward when they scored their first goal? Must have been 6 in our half in our stadium.
They were willing to go for the throat. More often than not we had one, at best two players even close to their box when we broke.

We let them pack the box with a solid @ 8 man defence too often because we held the ball in midfield too long.

I'm sure someone with a "football philosophy" will come along and tell me I'm wrong, but I don't give a shit, we need to get our bollocks out going into these games and bloody well smash the opposition with everything. Like a young Tyson, 1st round K.O. Don't worry about still being in it with 2 rounds to go, knock them out before it happens.

Yeah, absolutely and we're showing signs of improvement in the area I've mentioned over the last couple of months, but I still feel against the teams we are superior to we really act like we know it and that's a really bad thing. My attitude as a player when I was younger and took football very seriously was 'I'm better than you and I'm going to tear you apart and prove it!' not 'I'm better than you, so I can just chill and take it easy because of that'

I think this is the biggest reason we are shown up regularly by teams we should be beating quite comfortably. It pleases me to see Christian Eriksen mentioned his frustration due to this problem of not going for the jugular when we have teams backed into a corner. I just hope he's voiced his concerns to his team mates and more importantly Poch has noticed this problem and is working hard to turn us into animals with a killer instinct as it's going to be so vital for us to become a formidable team going forward

Well on the one hand, we might say we were lucky to get a point, considering they had the best of the match for long periods. But considering that their 2nd goal was offside by any sensible interpretation of the rule, and that Nobel should clearly have been sent off, they might say the same.

TBF to the lad, he had been up most of the night handing out peace prizes LoL

Or do you mean West Ham player Mark NOBLE? :)

Jordan's new kid will be Oscar Nobel Price.
Did you know the Nobell prize was won by the bloke who invented door knockers?

And Worzel Gummidge won a Nobel prize for being outstanding in his field?

Although the result wasn't as good as I'd have hoped for today I was left with a smile on my face, Tottenham of years gone by would have ended up losing this game by 3 or 4 goals as we would have in the past caved in, but today that new mentality shone through, Yes we didn't play well but we scraped away and got those 2 goals to at least gain a point and that is a sign of a good team, if you can still get points when your not at your best, Old Spurs would not have done this today, So for me I am very optimistic as to where we are going under Pochettino, Its a very good sign for the future of the club.

Love the attitude and work ethic, the football does need to improve though and be more consistant.
