bubble! Never before have I been so close to agreeing with one of your sig teams. Swap Soldado for anyone decent and maybe Sandro for Capoue and you've just about got me on board.

The striker situation is a big problem and I'm not sure we will have the funds to get anyone better

I didn't know his nick name was "The Penalty Killer" so lets hope he lives up to it next time we have a shoot out in the Europa League. There should be enough games for him so I don't know what the fuss is about.

He and Soldado could have epic penalty battles on the training pitch.

Great signing BUT there is no way Lloris will be happy to not play in the Europa, he wants Champions League so the very minimum for him is the Europa, Lloris is world class and deserves to be showcased in EL, maybe unfortunately the club are preparing for Lloris exit next year.....I really hope not...

I suspect Lloris will be delighted to miss the Europa group stage and early knock out stages TBH.

From his own mouth in De Telegraaf, dutch newspaper today.

- on the deal:
'The deal came across very quickly. I was on vacation in Ibiza, lying on the beach when the phone call came. In 24 hours, I will return to Ibiza as well, because I need more than 1 week of vacation after the WC and the squad is in the US at the moment. I will receive further info about when to join the squad later.'

- on Lloris:
'When you join such a big club, you know there will be two top players for every position. Lloris has already proven himself on the highest level. I will show what I am capable of the coming period. By training together, he will improve me and vice versa, I think. It fits the policy of a big club to have a big squad, necessary to play in all competitions.'

- on Spurs:
' this is a superbig club in my eyes. If you see the names playing there, the support they have in London and their training complex. It's possibly the best of the world'

Transfer fee quoted is 6M euros btw.

My own translations, for what it's worth...

Didn't we rest Hugo for most games in last year's EL anyway?

I love this bit in bold, it shows that it does matter that we have a lovely training complex. Its where the players spend 90% of their time!

Couple of points about signing Vorm

1) Europa League is a much bigger deal this year with CL qualification if you win. IMO it's a more realistic route in than top 4. Top keeper, especially one who can save penalties is a big, big bonus.

2) Lloris style (sweeper/keeper) presents a higher risk of injury and cards (particularly red). Having Vorm on the bench goes a long way towards addressing this.

He loves playing in Europe and isn't disrespectful to the Europa League, I'm sure I remember him being disappointed that he was rested for a game.

In todays stupid people on twitter:

Vorm coming means Lloris is definitely off.

Completely forgetting the fact He was going to be 2nd or 3rd choice at Swansea.

I think many on here have forgotten just how good he was in his first season at Swansea.

He was undoubtably one of the top 3 keepers in the league during the 11/12 season, and if he'd carried on that form, and not been out for 6 weeks with an injury at the beginning of 12/13, he'd be a 10m+ keeper.

Also fits our playing style. If he can replicate his form in the 11/12 season, then 6m euros is an absolute steal. I'm delighted, him and Davies, while understated, will really improve the squad imo.

A team is only as good as it's weak link, and we've finally replaced ours, and made sure we don't have one when Lloris is injured.
