Watched Roma a fair bit last season. He's talented but drifts out of games for long spells, not going to be come in and improve us straight away.

I have a hard time working up an excitement over an Seri A striker. Not that they aren't quality but their way of play so different than in the EPL; so very few of former Seri A players manage to make a smooth/successful transmission to the EPL.

Given the promising form of Kane and Soldado pre-season, and assuming Ade's malaria is genuinely mild (and that's a big assumption), then we have options up front. If Roma need cash then I think Franco should try to push through a deal for Benatia, rather than Destro or Ljajic.

Maybe this is why we're getting the rumours about Vlad. I seem to remember both Spurs and Roma were in for Vlad and Jedvaj (the young Croatian CB), and there was a suggestion that there was a gentleman's agreement that meant we both got a CB without any crazy bidding war. If Roma still want Vlad, and I think at this stage in his development he's better suited to Italian football, maybe Franco is trying to engineer cash plus Vlad for Benatia.
