I don't think anyone had a poor game but at the same time nobody shone. It was a good team performance away from home to a team that have come from CL football.
I think the lack of noise from the home supporters for long periods in the game spoke volumes and I give full respect to the Spurs fans out there who continually out sung them .
Unfortunately we lost it in the first leg and were always chasing the game to some extent. I don't think that Bent and Jenus deserve some of the criticism that they are getting. Jenus ran his socks off while carrying an injury and Bent was unlucky, only to be denied by a great save from the keeper. Lets hope he gets a few more games before the end of the season so that he can prove a few people wrong and get his confidence up.

Zokora played better than Jenas in his own role. Zokora did really well in terms of breaking things up. Jenas did indeed cover a lot of ground, but part of his job is also to go forward and create things. Which he didn't do with much success. Hence his score being lower than Zokora's. Also, he missed the penalty. If he had scored and we had won, I'd happily give him a 10.

Gutted , agree we're short of midfield guile...and should Berbs go ( which this result must make likelier),I'm concerned about forwards with guile .

Plenty of effort , I'll give 'em all 7... I'd have been shot in my playing days if I regularly failed to get my corners over the first man like Hudd..so 6 for him .

The next coupla months of target free football will be a challenge for Gus and JR to get this sort of effort...not really looking forward to playing motivated Prem teams now .

I think "what?!?!" describes this.

Aside from his penalty miss, I thought he was awesome. He was everywhere, getting kicked to shit all over the place, running his lungs out, quite clearly not fit.

How he's not rated alongside Zokora I don't know [who had a better game-ish]. I give up sometimes - I don't really know what to say - he carries our central midfield whoever he plays with. He's one and a half men - and it's patently obvious that we miss him terribly when he's not on the field.

Stop expecting him to be Gerrard.

JJ has been a big player for us since Ramos came in and don't get me wrong. I'm a big big fan of Jenas. His England call up and subsequent goal also reflects his recent fine form. However, last night JJ was highly ineffective and spent the majority of the game huffing and puffing with no real punch to his play.

I remember he made one real burst from midfield and drifted off down the right with the ball looking threatening. Aside from that...nothing. His ball distribution was also dire last night.

I think the figure given is fair based purely on last nights match tbh. JJ is capable of sooooo much more then he gave last night and perhaps he was still carrying that injury....it certainly looked like it.

No-one less than 6 - Berbs MOTM again - 8.5/9- his volley was of the very highest quality - truly sublime - great pen under pressure to try to help calm the nerves

zoko very good game- overall a tremendous team effort- and so close to being one of our greatest-ever performances in Europe

The fact is we were playing a tatically astute and technically superior team. We kept them silent (hardly a shot on goal) and had alot of possession. We didn't create enough, so we only managed one goal - but to lose on penalties was no discredit ot the team. Match ratings for notable performances:

The GOOD:
Robbo - good positioning and awareness, despite little threat from PSV - 7

Woodgate - Immense. comfy on the ball, well positioned, disciplined (didnt give away cheap fouls) - 8

Malbranque - attack and defend, got a great shot in - 8

Chimbo - all-action display down the right covers up for defensive errors. Just whats is needed in a cup game - 8

Berba - took too long on the ball and played it too short. HOWEVER he is still our cutting edge - who could consistently score volleys? - 8.5

The BAD
Lennon - was expecting more - 6

Bent - Tries hard but lack of technique/intellgience meant he can't play the lone-striker role well - 6

Lee - provided width, made himself safe but can't cross = useless - 5

The problem with Polls like this, is that there is hardly ever just one player who is head & shoulders above the others.

It is a team game and others have a significant contribution to make, too.

Take last night's game, I thought Berbatov was truly excellent, but Woodgate was just as important at the other end of the pitch.

Huddlestone - This is why we will not be able to compete against the top 4. Now this isn't an insult to Hudd, as I think he had a decent game last night and got better as the night went on, but he doesn't seem to have the class required to step up, we need better player in our midfield who can step into the team and perform.

This is like kicking the god of football in the nads....

Stoof you are wrong,Jenas is one of my favourite players and someone I pay great attention to when he is playing.
He had a poor game and did very, very little right.Players like Jenas and Robbie are only human, form comes and goes,I am not saying they are shit players merely, that last night both these players were off form and should have been subbed long before the end of the game.
