Robbo's mistake could have lost us the game, good thing Zoko became a superman to get back, other than that Robinson had a 6/10 game.

Poor decision making from Robbo could have cost us.
Probably the highlight of Zokora's season.

Woodgate is a General at the back.

Glad to see Bent score and showed his excellent pace , again another player who can offer something different.

Id really like to see tainio stay in the summer as well as he is a great squad player and could be very handy in cup games.

Agree with the Bent comment good to see hime come on and score today. Also agree with the Tainio comment he is a great squad player always there when you need him and always give 110% which is always handy. Do feel if he'd had longer on the pitch my have created more as well as being solid.

Apparently Jenas wasn't injured today so perhaps we will see Zokora / Huddlestone starting a few games before the end of the season. I was slightly apprehensive when I heard we were starting with these two, having been an advocate of a Jenas / Tainio midfield for some time. They did reasonably well against an unambitious Portsmouth side.

Overall I thought it was rather a poor game, and we started to fade in the second half. Solid performances from all our players but nothing special. Malbranque seems to have gone off the boil in the second half of the season, having probably been our best player before christmas.

My MOTM goes to Bent who won the game for us. Scored one and set up the second.

Players worthy of note:

The BAD

Robbo - made 1 mistake, saved one shot. Average performance. Problem is he seems so nervous - he needs an extended summer to get his confidence back.

The GOOD

Woodgate - has an aura of calm about him - the sign of a good CB.

Bent - direct player with the right physique. Unskilllful but that doesn't matter against a tiring team.

The BEST

Ramos - we wouldn't have won this kind of game last season.

On the basis of todays' performance we seriously lack that final killer ball. Huddlestone's passing is breath taking, his control and the way he caresses and pings the ball around is sublime. I think in one/two years, hopefully less, we will have a top class player. That is the problem though in one or two years!
I honestly could see us replacing the whole first choice midfield today.Keep Lennon as he is still developing as is O'Hara. Zokora I feel will be kept on maybe as a squad player, but I'm not a huge fan of his or Jenas. Who I know lot's of people rate highly.
But get some top competition in for Lennon, buy a top drawer DM who allows Huddlestone plus new guy freedom to roam and score. Also unless Bale plays left midfield we need somewhere there badly.Steed runs his legs off but that's all for me. I have a feeling Boateng will go out on loan next year.

Hutton to at the back needs to work on his delivery. Seen lot's of people give him 7 out of 10 for today. I like the guy as he is athletic, good runner with the ball, but crossing let him down today.

but he is a defender, so people will mark him on his Defending ability, he does needto work on crossing but that isnt why we signed him for

if we are going to critisise people for not doing what they arnt meant to doo, where was Robbo when we were looking for someone to run passed Pompys defence? where were Keane and Berbatov when Kanu ran passed the defender? where was bent for 70 mins! should we mark them down too

Only started watching in the 2nd half but think Thudd was the best in that half for me as both goals won't have happened if it wasn't for his superb raking passes and his controlled passing in midfield. Also, showed great improvements in terms of tracking back and tackling as I noticed that he has improved this aspect of his game greatly under Ramos due to his greater stamina and better mobility. He MUST play with either JJ or Zok. JJ and Zok MUST NEVER play together because they both lack the most important ingredient of a midfielder; passing.

Bent did great and I think he should be given as chance to play with either Berbs or Keane as he is a striker who plays off the shoulder of defenders and the movement & creativity of both Berbs and Keane makes him ideal to play off them. He also have to pace to make use of Thudd's quick long punts off a counter attack

And Hutton was impressive for me at right back. Pretty stable defensively with enough pace and technical ability to pose a great going forward.

My only negative was Lennon. His crossing must really improve or Ramos may start looking for a more productive winger.

Overall, Ramos was my MOTM as he won us the game with some great substitutions.

Agreed Hutton is a defender, then in that case keep him in our half, but he hasn't been signed for that as he attacks constantly. If he continues to cross the ball, which he should, then he needs to improve.

He does need to improve i agree, but its just a bonus that he can do this, and seeing how poor our wide men have been (well at staying wide and putting in cross's he has to get forward) but why slate him for not putting in good cross's when the players who are paid to do so cant even do it  Lennon and Steed both dont put in great cross's, most the time Huttons are normaly better

Lennon was terrible today.Did so much running but didnt have any end product whatsoever, which mustve been sooooo frustrating for Ramos. He looked like a real amateur today, young Aaron. No surprise he's not picked for England, with that kind of terrible crossing.

I thought this was one of our best performances in terms of domination and tempo. Yes Pompey were poor but until the last 2 mins there was no fannying around at the back with the ball, as soon as we got it we looked wide and forwards....much better.

Robbo - 6 - not much to do, one great save, one mistake......distribution seemed good (on TV)

Chimbo - 7 - great first half (and i mean great), slightly avearge second.
Dawson - 7 - everything done without a fuss.
Woodgate - 8.5 - Capello must be impressed.
Hutton - 7 - seems to have it all but some dodgy crosses.

Steed - 6 - not his best game but worked hard.
Zoko - 7 - athletic as ever, everything a midfielder shopuld do.
Hudd - 8 - awesome passing and looks very very fit, fitness wise ;-)
Lennon - 6 - got in good positions but must learn how to cross and kick the ball further than 10 yards....

Berba - 7.5 - great touches and effort
Keane - 7 - always lively

Bent - 8 - thats whjy we bought him, first time he has run at a defender in weeks! More of that please Mr B :)
O Hara - 7 - did well
Tainio - 7 - solid for the time he was on.

Ramos - 10 - subs looked a gamble but he is a god!!

Robbo-5 not much to do. Dont think they had one shot? Still is dodgy, dont come of his line.

Huttun-7 played well. getting to like him even more every game. still his 1st touch is a bit poor.

Dawson-6.5 done ok. not much to do. bit clumsy couple of time, got beat by kanu a few times. done ok.

woodgate-8 played very well. makes a hell of a difference.

chimbonda-7 done ok, still looks like a bit dodgy defending but did enough.

lennon-6.5 looks lively, works hard. final ball was bit disapointing.

hudd-7 done ok, some good balls and some bad balls.

zokora-8 motm? played very well yet again. works vvery hard all game.

malbranque-7.5 played very well too, didnt stop worked hard.

keane-7.5 thought he played well today actually. held it up well and was involved with alot of good passing around the box etc. good game. worked hard

berby-8 very good game also, last few games his work rate his getting better, is running back and working hard. very good game.

bent-7 didnt do anything when he first came on but then scored and did very well for 2nd goal. best ive seen from him, his confidence is growing.

tainio-7 done well when came on.

o'hara-5.5 didnt do anything gave it away everytime, then came up with a goal.

GOOD GAME today, thought we played well, controlledthe game, always looked like the better side. Out passed them. They never looked like they were gonna score. they played ok, actually passed the ball ok, and was hard to break down. Ramos got his tactics right again today. When he brought o'hara and bent on pompey started to get into it and i thought he messed it up but now i see he done it to open things up. very good thinking. bent did well. good result and good football. good game COYS

We played very well today against a resoloute portsmouth who came to stop us. To be honest it was hard to pick a MOTM when everyone played their part in a good team performance. Redknapp showed today why I would hate him to be a spurs manager. He's got a very good squad at his disposal (even with injuries etc) but all he can do turn out 10 defenders with no tactical nouse at all. If he doesn't win the FACup then the league could be his only chance of europe but with the ultra negative attitude he showed today he deserves fuck all. Ratings:

Robinson 6 - Nothing much to do but one good save and a clanger that nearly let in Kanu.

Hutton 7.5 - Played well

Dawson 7 - Not much to do but did his job. Only put on his arse once by Kanu.

Woodgate 7 - Played well enough but gave the ball away needlessly a couple of times.

Chimbonda 7 - Good effort. Don't realy see what he does that Lee doesn't - can only imagine Ramos prefers his height/heading ability ??

Lennon 6.5 - Poor old Lennon. There are games when I criticise him for being too quiet. Today he was very lively but his end product just didn't quite come off. Marks for effort though.

Huddlestone 7.5 - I thought he played pretty well today. Hard to split a 10 man defence with a pass but he worked hard.

Zokora 8 - I thought he was the busiest midfielder on the park today. And also saved a certain goal. Tenacious at times refusing to let players settle. Keeping the ball moving. Just don't understand people who call him shit.

Malbranque 7 - never bettered for Technique, industry and endevour, his final ball just frutrates me sometimes. But he has played out of position all season and that definately contributes. Tireless though.

Berbatov 7.5 - Worked hard.

Keane 7.75 - Worked very hard. Good game.

Bent 7.5 - Well done son. not my favourite player and never will be but his attitude is top drawer.

Ramos 9 - right tactics, good motivation, right subs, right times. He who dares eh ???
