We won't sack him, we will just change his job title, I don't believe he ever got a new contract deal, just a title change

Tim has stated that he doesn't want to work under anyone, so he won't stay on as an apprentice. If he'll get back his old job, well, he'll technically be "above" van Gaall....and I wonder if van Gaal will accept that. Not saying he won't but I doubt it; which would mean that the job description of being Technical director has to be changed, something I doubt Tim would accept.
Besides, I have not heard of any manager getting the sack in a top club being "promoted" to a "higher" job in the club that sacked him (but there may be such instances I don't know of).

Cant see United being interested in LVG, they'd be going for the Klopp's, Simeone's and the Conte's of this World.

having spoken to several United supporters (at work, unfortunately unavoidable) they are all convinced that if Moyes is sacked that the United board will make a major push at Klopp.

They don't sound overly confident that they will get him, but they are convinced that the list starts with him and then is filled with a hodge podge of other managers.

I think this one was tied up long ago and can't be announced till either the end of the season or after the WC

Least I hope so!

I am all for keeping Sherwood as head coach but I am not sure I would want him at White Hart Lane in nay other capacity if we brought in someone else. Too much risk of him being a disruptive influence. So I would expect to see him paid off in those circumstances.

Yeh, the United fans I've spoken too pretty much say the same thing, most of them think of LVG as a flop at the 'Big' Clubs and don't want him. If you went down Uniteds list of targets I guess at some point LVG would be on it but I bet there's quite a few above him. I think as Spurs fans we're guilty of building LVG up in our minds a bit over the top, and thinking every big Club will want him all of a sudden. In reality LVG's stock has gone down since his Barca days, which is why he's a viable target for us.

Hasn't he won a trophy at every club he has ever been at? I certainly wouldn't complain if he took over.
Defo the best man who is likely to be interested in taking the job

For us yeah, I was just saying I don't think United would be interested.

I think he would be perfect for Utd. He could get them back to winning ways.
He is a man who's reputation alone demands respect.
I'd love him at spurs, personally I think its an already done deal. I live in hope

That's the problem of managing the big clubs in those leagues. The titles won with Barca and Bayern in those years were pretty much a minimum.

Which means the most impressive trophies remain with Ajax, but they were a while ago now.

I'm certainly not against LVG, but we need to be careful about bugging up any manager.

My first choice in all honesty would have been Klopp, but I will not be disappointed if LVG signs.

He has managed not to get Holland to the World cup in 2002 and had Barcelona only 3 points off the relegation places when they sacked him in 2003

I agree he has been living off past glories at Ajax for a long long time, the AZ title was a good feat though

I am a bit worried that a lot of fans here have built him up as the Dutch Mourinho, unfortunately I think he is more the Dutch Ramos

Probably more rubbish from Ruud Guillt... But fingers crossed it isn't!

CELEB SPOT

Dutch footballing legend and ex-Chelsea manager Ruud Guillt is in the Ferrarigarage. He tells BBC F1 pit-lane reporter Jennie Gow he feels sorry for beleaguered Man Utd manager David Moyes, and that Louis Van Gaal's rumoured appointment as the new Tottenham manager is "a done deal".

So what do you make of his achievement of winning the title with AZ...?

Unbelievable some of the comments being made in this thread.

We have a chance to employ one of the most successful managers in European football, who incidentally has won more trophies than quite possibly our last 8 managers combined, and there are those that scoff at his achievements as "to be expected". If anything we should recognise that he was made manager of barca and bayern and delivered what the expected when it would be easy to flop. If anything Moyes and our recent managers should show just because you have great players it doesn't mean you will win title.

You can certainly argue that he should've won more trophies with Barcelona and Bayern, but remember that he left the clubs in perfect condition. It's hardly a coincidence that Barcelona went on to be the best team in Europe post LVG, and that Bayern now are experiencing the same.

The reason why I want LVG more than any other is not only because I think he'll do well, but also because I believe he'll build the foundations of something great. If he finishes the building himself or lets someone else take over doesn't matter that much I think.
