I didn't include FBs as the GK normally only marshalls the CBs, but I suppose it doesn't hurt.

Anyway a bit moot as he speaks great English anyway

Yeah I see what you mean..........If only they spoke American we would have more clean sheets :D

I'm sure Walker and Naughton took some French classes at school. They're the same age as my first 2 boys and they took basic French. You also forgot BAE, he speaks French too(y)

In all fairness I took basic french at GCSE, and pretty much all i can remember is how to say "my name is", cat, and book in french :D

What really worries me is if we fuck Lloris off, we are going to need a new first choice keeper probably next season and our choice will be heavily restricted and/or costly. Friedel can't go on for ever.

Never saw the point in signing a new senior keeper unless we were planning to move Brad on. It raises big question marks whether Levy and AVB were on the same page on that one; there are similar question marks over Ade. These were long term marquee targets into which we had put a lot of work, and the suspicion is that AVB came on to the scene to late in the day to have any input.

I can see the point of bleeding Lloris into spare him the treatment Gomes got on his arrival, but the odd cameo does not seem to be doing his confidence much good either. So far he has looked less reliable than Brad. Would he have looked better if he had started from the off? It is hard to tell, but he is not looking a top premiership keeper yet.

When he fucking deserves to play he will, I'd also prepare myself for him not quite being the Jesuite-like figure you're all bigging him up to be.

I've yet to receive a good explanation as to how exactly you're all so sure he's a shoe-in for nets, all I read is France No.1, coup, so quick, commanding of his are etc. when he hasn't really shown any of this in his appearances to pretty poor opposition in games we should be dominating anyway.

Did any of you actually see him much at Lyon? Because you wouldn't be saying all the things you are if you did IMO. It's bananas.

Fap fap fapping yourselves into a frenzy over fuck all at the moment.

You're missing the point. We just shouldn't have bought him if this was the plan of action

Got nothing to do with performances. Should have done for a younger, less regarded player if we were going to make him prove himself to this degree.

No the point is that despite all the Lloris fanboys biased comments about Brad's performances he hasn't done too much wrong at all and shouldn't be dropped, Lloris hasn't even had a good game yet and you're all crying for him to start the most important premiership games when he's looked shaky.

Well sorry, but fuck that. If he had shown enough to justify his reputation then fair enough, but he hasn't so far. Hopefully he does, but if you think City away is the game for it after making an error midweek, then I think you're being really fucking silly.

I bet he plays as he has a game for France coming up. Well that was the last reason.

Out of interest what goals do you blame Friedel for this season, I can name at least 5 of the top of my head.

So hope Lloris starts today, he is a highly rated keeper, and should be given the chance to shine. He has conceded less goals per game than Brad in his short time here, and made less costly mistakes than Brad so far this season, so on form he should start, on reputation he should start, and for the overall benefit of the club he should start.

I wouldn't be surprised as the article says, IIRC, that if he's not our number 1 by Arsenal he'll be wanting a move. In fact I bet he wants a move already, and I wouldn't blame him if he does.

A game like this would be excellent for him to show what he can do, especially after that cock up on Thursday.

He'll only have so much patience though. He's the France number 1 (for now) and one of the biggest goalkeeping prospects in the world due to his age. It'd be tragic to let someone like that slip out of our hands.

Why the urge to start Lloris? - friedel has probably been our best, most consistant preformer this year (that kind of sums up our season) The premier league is a graveyard for top foreign goalkeepers , so lets use this opportunity to phase him in gradually, he will be our number 1 by the end of the season, he knows this and so does brad.

I have watched Lloris' career since around 2007 ish when he was still at Nice. A friend of mine who was born in Paris but spent the majority of his life in Scotland (PSG fan btw) had been raving about him when he was still in the Nice youth team. I made it a point to look into this player he seemed to think was the second coming, as my own bias told me no French keeper could be that good if you look at their past history of producing keepers. I have subsequently watched him from Nice, through Lyon and now at our beloved Spurs. He is an excellent goalkeeper. In my opinion he has been top 5 in the world for the past 3 years. There is no surprise to me he was made French captain so young, or why he is widely regarded by most in Europe to be world class. I was gobsmacked we even managed to sign him if i'm honest.

Believe me, there is no "fap fap fapping" from me. I just know a world class goalkeeper when I see one. One whose career I have followed closely. Notice how I didn't slag off Freidel at any point in my post. I still think he's a very good Premiership goalkeeper and a stand up guy. Rating Lloris and hating Freidel aren't mutually exclusive. Yes, I think Freidel has made a few mistakes this season but his form has been for the most part above average. I just feel that when you have a keeper as good as Lloris in your squad, you need to play him, all sentiments aside.

i think he'll play today but won't next week at arsenal.

That will piss me off massively, when he comes into the side he needs to stay in. There is no place for sentiment when it comes to this, as Friedel is costing us, and in the long run AVB's decisions regarding Lloris could cost us too, as we may lose the best goalkeeper we have had at the Lane for generations.

So since watching him since 2007, in France, you've not seen him flap a bit when he comes (which isn't that often in reality), you've not seen him parry 90% and catch 10% (if even that)?

He's a better keeper than Mandanda for sure, but he's not worthy of the fawning over him when he has done nothing at Spurs to justify ousting Brad as yet.

I first saw him in 2007, he didn't impress me too much then in a great French youth team who I kept an eye out for. I think he is being massively overhyped at this point and am unsure if he'll suit the English game to be honest, I hope he does well, but it's certainly not his time to start yet. He has not earned it.
