He is a poor mans pogba. He just lacks composure and killer through balls. The rest of their play isn't that different.

One cost 30m and the other cost 80m

And he'll never be able to score goals, he's a mid table powerhouse.

It's just a sacrifice that we know we have to make when selecting him unfortunately. It's a sacrifice I'm content with us making due to the lack of options though and for what else he brings but it's just a shame he doesn't have that composure. Still, of course we'd like to think that with the attacking talent of Kane, Son, Eriksen, Dele and Lucas we shouldn't have to rely on Sissoko's finishing in any way but the problem is that he can get forward so well!

Can’t work out whether you are genuinely the most rational man on this forum, or just love playing devils advocate

To be fair hes right did anyway go into todays game thinking we would win? would anyone on here not have taken a draw before kick off?
There was some positives today more than the last few games and after the way we lost today that's what we have got to take.

Wednesday is a massive game for us more than todays so let stay positive for that and realistic.

Have we all calmed down yet, are we ready to take the positives out of that? ...there was a few.

Im getting odd swaves of optimism as I genuinely think that's the best we've played for some time and I include victories in that aswell but man that one hurt and the manner in which we threw it away. In one moment, Sissoko could have put our season right back on track and practically ended Liverpools' which in itself would have brought me untold joy.

The second half was a reminder that we can match it with the best for large periods of any game.

You could see the confidence returning. By the end of the game we were playing superbly - even the Sky commentator was gushing.

Hope the disappointment doesn't knock the stuffing out of us. Still loads to play for. City in the CL looked impossible before the second half today. Now... there's hope.

My day

Before KO... Not much hope
First 10. Abit of false hope
They score... Fear the worse
After they score... Shitting myself
Before ht.... Back to a little false hope
Second half.. Stopping myself from false hope as we improve
We score... Im going mental
After we score.. Nervous not sure whether to stick or twist
We start to dominate... False hope gone, replaced by real hope
Missing chances... Start fearing the worse
They score.. Fucking furious
Game ends.. Anger frustration, anger frustration,
After game.. Disbelief
Now.. Trying to convince myself I'm fine
Now hope for wedsnesday

Yes I am fucking mad

No.

I’ll take the positives from a stand-alone narrow loss against a team likely to win the league.

Compound it with 1 point from 5 games, losing 10 league games out of 31 and losing 7 domestic fixtures between new year and the end of March... and suddenly my penchant for optimism begins to wane somewhat.

Exactly this. We can’t pretend this is a momentary dip in form, either.

This goes right back to the start of the year, where we lost to United and went out of two cup competitions in the space of a week and a bit.

That should have been a wake up call, while the January transfer window was still open.

It wasn’t, and we just trundled along assuming everything else would be okay.

As you said, there is a very real possibility we may yet end up 6th this season. EVERY game is now a must-win, even if that game is against Manchester City. We are the sole architects of this shitty situation, and I hope the vocal minority on here who furiously defend our transfer policy of recent windows will now do us all the good grace of sitting down and piping down.
we've lost 10 games ( a third) with 7 still to play. That really doesn't suggest a top 4 team.

You more or less did, but OK lol

Dude - I literally said 3-1 or 2-0 or we might keep it to 1-0 if we avoid them scoring too early. That's it. I wasn't one of those posting that we were going to get a pasting etc or this could be a cricket score which I saw plenty of.

I thought the defeat was obvious and inevitable but I never saw us getting battered.

If Pool win the league then they deserve it. They invested in the right players and overpaid a little to get the ones who’d make the difference. We just sat on our hands. It’s no surprise that we’ve gone in different directions.

Previously I didn't want them to, but now I really couldn't give a fuck if they do or don't. I'm just concentrating on us now.

OK, just read pretty negative at the time to me, got that wrong obviously ?

I wonder how many goals we can gift City over 3 games.

I was having a chat with my dad earlier about what the aggregate score might be over the 3 games.

We decided that we'd be pretty happy if we stop them getting to double figures.

Second half we played Liverpool off the park, no one has done that, yes we fucked it up, but when we all calm down and get over how we managed to lose that, we will be happy that at least we looked like we are back
We done the same to Liverpool last season at Anfield only for Kane to redeem himself by scoring our 2nd penalty. Our confidence will be shattered after this defeat. Individual mistakes are costing us dearly.

This is 100% correct and it was as soon as we knew we had half the squad in thew World Cup semi finals. We knew then that the preseason plans were skittled and that the players would start the season knackered. So what did we do, we bought nobody. Then sold dembele in January and bought nobody in to remedy the disastrous summer window.

Now I don't know if its Levy's fault or Poch's fault or whoever. I don't particularly care who is to blame. But we can all be in agreement on one thing. It was fucking stupid.

He is right, there were lots of positives. What’s so demoralising for me is having to readjust my own ambitions for what I think Spurs can achieve from this point. I suppose my heart is still in the 2016-2017 season when we were genuinely a joy to support.

Looking forward to Wednesday now, let’s see if the new stadium can change the atmosphere.

seriously I can't entertain the thought of EL football at the new stadium with their shitty song and black and orange design. Need to fix up ASAP.

Top 4 is still in our hands but my that was a kick in the bollocks.

Also we tend to bring our absolute A game in the CL, so call me mad but I'm actually more hopeful there, than I am in the Prem.
