I hope we hurry up and sign some quality .... the complete lack of activity reminds me of Watford a few years ago.

They got promoted and instead of signing anyone they gave everyone new deals and got relegated.

We've reached the top 4 for the 1st time and have so far only gave out new deals which is great but we can't hand on heart say were better than Liverpool, Man City, Villa and Everton.

Now's the time to try and consolidate 4th place/aim higher .... going to places like Birmingham, Fulham, Stoke, Sunderland etc are going to be tough games ....

The only news you see is Spurs signing multi million sponsorship deals ... it's a personal opinion but is Levy more concerned with sitting in his office with his balance sheets, toilet paper and his pants round his ankles instead of signing a striker/central defender?

We've consistently spent big for the last 3/4 years and after a dry summer transfer window (which hasn't even closed yet) you're having a go at Levy. The same Levy that sanctioned the signings of Modric, Crouch, Palacios, Gomes, Defoe, Bassong and many more over just the last 2 seasons.

Spurs have been the envy of almost every club (bar Man City) for our exuberant spending and exciting transfer windows in recent years- we've been positively spoiled compared to the Evertons of this world, and yet people still complain.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love us to sign Dzeko, Ozil, or even Scott Parker, but I think some people need to have a sense of perspective before they start playing the blame game and pointing fingers. We ARE an ambitious club and I would be very surprised if we don't sign anyone at all but even if we don't I'm sure its not for lack of trying.

(oh and PLEASE don't compare us to a newly promoted Watford...thats a completely different situation and bears no relevance whatsoever to spurs atm.)

i think were in better shape though than previous clubs that broke into 4th briefly. our squad is huge, and we've barely really used the kyles, gio even bentley and niko. i think theres more to come from many players, well hopefully.

its just up front was my only real concern, and its still not been addressed. one of our biggest failings last year was our inability to punish teams who try and park the bus

Yes. Especially the toilet paper and pants round his ankles bit. My ITK tells me he's addicted to wiping his arse all day long whilst reading The Jewish Chronicle from cover to cover...

Let me think...4 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss. Hand on heart I think we did pretty well last season against those 4 teams.

I'm not comparing us to Watford ... I'm saying that when they got promoted, they rewarded there existing players instead of strengthening and ended up getting relegated.

All I'm saying is that we can't assume that were going to be competing for 4th place with the current squad as we've got 4-5 rivals all fighting for the same position. By not strengthening (as in Watford) aren't we risking all that we achieved last season? Instead of looking to push on/make the most of our opportunity, we could in theory be overtaken by our rivals and end up in 7th or 8th place ....

I massively object to this sort of attitude. We've spent plenty over the years with Levy in charge.

Signing sponsorship agreements enables us to buy the players we want.

No offense but I think your post is poorly thought out and is nothing more than a reflection of your frustration that we haven't bought anyone.

History tells us that Levy has worked his a*s off for the club when the right acquisition opportunity has presented itself

There's a big difference between getting promoted and preparing for a new League, and finishing 4th in the same League and looking to do the same again.

We will sign a couple of players this month. We'll also have some youngsters more ready to be involved. I'm sure a couple of players we loaned out will be in the squad again too.

The squad we have now is stronger than the one we finished the season with. We haven't sold 1st team players yet either remember.

I like how when you express an opinion people go in a strop.

A year ago I said Adam Johnson was clearly better than Downing but all I got was your clueless .... Johnson's in the reserves, Downing's in the England squad blah blah blah.

Who's the one in the spot light now? Oh it's Johnson ....

You don't remember all the threads with people saying how they thought Downing was shit? Or all the threads with people expressing desire we sign Johnson?

Spurs have brought-in Sandro who is highly regarded.

We've been investing in players for the future for the past several years and guess what?

The future has arrived!

Players like Dos Santos, Rose, Taarabt, Walker, Naughton, Parrett & Bostock will hopefully be given plenty of chances this season and we've a good crop of youngsters who've come up through the Academy too.

I never rated Downing for the record. Don't remember any talk of Adam Johnson either.

I think one problem is people have got used to us going out and spending loads each summer whether it was the right thing or not. Now they feel like we're not trying at a time when they'd expect the cash to be splashed.

I absolutely think we should get a new defender and maybe a striker in. However that player has to be a proven premiership player even if it costs us £20m+. No point in getting a player in that won't take us forward, Crouch's signing last summer was a great example, he wasn't better and possibly worse than the strikers we had already. The ideal candidate would have been Darren Bent but most Spurs fans don't rate him despite his fantastic record, and neither does Harry. I can't see us signing Torres, Tevez or Drogba so where does that leave us? A promising foreigner who may not adapt to the premiership.

Don't worry too much about not signing anyone. I believe the constant turnover of players has been our downfall for many seasons. We bought players from outside the premiership, they took 6 months to hit form, then we decide to replace them with a player of equal quality the following summer. Every season we were under performing for large chunks, I believe, largely because the team hadn't gelled yet. Last season was different, I think all our signings were premiership players and we got off to a flyer didn't we?
