I'm wondering what people's opinions are on the 'reported' rifts between Levy and Harry over who we should sign this summer.

Harry wants experienced players and if the reports are to be believed .... they consist of players who are the wrong side of 30 (Parker, Drogba, Forlan, Distin etc).

Where as Levy wants players with a potential sell on value and a marquee signing - I assume to appease the fans.

Then there's the issue that Harry may not be here in a years time (trial/England job) and the reports that Ancelotti has already been lined up to replace him.

The coming season is of massive importance to the club. We need quality signings and the season must be a success if we are to hold on to Modric, Bale, VDV etc ....

I'm personally not bothered if we sign a superstar. All I want are players that will improve our known weaknesses.

Is it wrong to expect Levy and Harry to have a list of signings that they both agree on?

Does Levy get his way and sign players that Harry doesn't want? or does Harry get his way, bring in some experienced players which may or may not work .... if not, how do we get our money back on 32, 33, 34 year old players? Simple, we don't.

We should already have our targets earmarked and be ready to attempt to sign them. The owner and manager shouldn't still be squabbling over who they want.

This needs to come to ahead because if it doesn't, the rift will grow and we risk being unprepared for the new season .... and if we fail, god help us keeping our stars.

Levy has a decision to make, either back his manager or thank him, sack him and bring in Ancelotti/a new manager sooner rather than later so we can move on, sign the players we need and be ready for the challenge of such an important season.

There has been counter-ITK that this is not actually the case.

Also, as I have just said on the ITK Thread - why is it always a case of either/or? Can't we get some experience and some young, exciting players who will have sell on value if they are not part of future plans:shrug:

Parker at 5 million ok at 30. 10 million too much with his injury record.

Drogba, will be 34 next season, 10 million is too much for a player that age.

Forlan, ageing, can't go on forever, but a free would be nice!

If Harry can't see that, he's not as shrewd as made out.

Ancelotti's last two clubs the players were bought for him.

I cant imagine there is a rift between the two, harry is the manager who has to pick the players so without his input beforehand there is no sense in bringing in someone that only Levy wants, say with a sell on value.

People could point at VDV coming in late last summer, but id imagine that on a list of players who Harry wanted VDV was on there, probably under the heading "TRIFFIC PLAYERS AT TOP TOP CLUBS WHO ARENT GETTING ENOUGH GAMES"

There may be itk on the subject but nothing has been mentioned in the papers as far as I'm aware, if even they aren't willing to run with the story then i wouldn't put to much stock in the itk.

If Harry's not going to be here in a year's time, which a lot of people and ITKs seem to be intimating, what's the point in him being here now? If he's in it for the long haul, fair enough. But it seems to be the prevailing opinion that he won't be here for years to come.

I think Levy is a master at mitigating risk, which is excellent for the club. Who wants to end up like Leeds? Some of Harry's targets seem risky, some seem thrifty. As long as there's a healthy balance, and not just the likes of Neville, Jokeole, etc. Levy bidding a derisory 250k for Neville was a good example of mitigating risk, without getting in Harry's face about his targets. Forlan or Drogba, on the other hand (transfer fee and wages permitting), would be shrewd purchases.

We have no reason to believe and we also have no reason not too.

Rumours are rumours and will always go on, much like the famed Jol Newcastle interview rumours we all regard as gospel these days forgetting that they are and have always been just strong itk.

There is no rift, its just some people assuming they have because we haven't signed anyone yet. In reality we're not signing anyone until we ship out our deadwood, it's common sense.

Is Mark Hughes lined up to replace Redknapp earlier than we think? There are a number of factors to consider. Firstly Redknapp's pending date with HMRC. The other factors are a potential relationship breakdown with Levy over transfer targets and Harry's obsession with smooching the media. The other factor could be Capello be removed earlier than next year.

and today they are undermining bale and lennon, i hate these wankers.

Exactly!!!!

Lets just believe everything on NewsNow....

From our first team: Bale, Mods, Lennon, Defoe, Sandro, Crouch, VDV and Gomes will all be sold this summer. They've all had bust-ups with HR! Levy will never buy a player HR really wants and will replace him with Terry Venables.

Before his injury, the journos were wank-festing over THudd and trying to sell him to United. Basically, they want to transplant the whole of our midfield (including sub) into United (prehaps to stop us becoming a threat:think:). I don't know why they don't just amalgamate the teams and call us ManTottenChester UniteSpurs, or summit:roll:

Hence why I said 'reported' :)

For once I was sitting on the fence, I wasn't saying the ITK was true or false .... merely saying that a decision needs to be made sooner rather than late with regard to which direction the club is going in :)

Previously mentioned players such as Cahill, Samba, Diarra are all experienced players with a sell on value - these are the type of players we should be going for.

I then woke up this morning to see were being linked with Beckham again, lol.

A similar name would have come in handy if we'd won the Olympic Stadium fight, lol
