They're going to be playing a 3-5-2 according to Van Gaal though aren't they?

De Gea
Jones--Smalling--Rojo
Rafael--Mata--Blind--Di Maria--Shaw
Van Persie--Falcao
I'd go with a 4-3-3 as you said or 4-3-1-2 with the players they have now though.
The thing is, Van Gaal is notorious for having revolts in the dressing room. He goes 433 and drops rooney he is opening himself up for that

Rojo might not sign as well, hopefully he doesnt

The question at United at the moment is how much do these players fancy a fight?

Falcao is only a loan, di Maria didnt appear to want to leave Madrid, Mata was sold due to his lack of stomach for a fight, Van Persie is getting on, and Rooney seems to have gone off the boil.

They have the proverbial top class forward line on paper but they will need to put it in on the pitch but, for me, the jury is still out on whether they can or want to.

I'll certainly keep on eye on them, very interesting forward line on paper. Though reports pretty much say falcoa has been meh since leaving Porto

It's really, really hard to see any clarity of thinking in ManU's transfer dealings of late. They've bought some decent players, but seem to have overloaded areas of the pitch and ignored others.

Can't say I'm a huge fan of the 352 anyway, but how an earth does he fit the players they've bought into that system.

Whichever system he chooses now he's got selection problems. I'm not even sure who could play right side of his 433 CM3.

Easy to fit them all in:

De Gea
Rafael- Jones- Rojo- Shaw
Blind/Carrick/Herrera
Mata- Rooney- Di Maria
Falcao- Van Persie

I see Van Gaal is dissing us in the press again and thinks we would have been an easier job than Utd. If you had true ambition then winning the league with Spurs would be the bigger test.

This. He waffles on about united being a challenge, which is probably is. But a true challenge would be taking over a team like Burnley and making them into league title contenders….. surely?

Yeah it's one of the things that annoys me about the game, a perfect example was all the fans of the top fours clubs saying that if Bale had ambition then he had to leave. Fuck off, it would be much more ambitious to stay at Spurs and get us to the top.

It's the glory hunters way of making them feel good about themselves and their plastic clubs, pretending that players join them because of ambition rather than the bigger wages. I'd say it's more a case that they have average ambition and a quick way of becoming a multi millionaire.

I'm obviously not saying Bale made the wrong choice after he just won the CL and I have no grudge against him, but in my view he took the easy route to winning trophies.

Lets just hope LVG sticks to his track record .... ManU shite for half a season, then gets his team playing glorious football and wins the league cup 5th place & EL place, followed by being sacked next summer for calling Woodward a fucktronic asshat..

I hope they finish bottom half

Actually the big signings probably just increase the pressure on Utd's creaky defense. A few days ago Van Gaal was playing down their chances of winning anything but after Falcao and Di Maria everyones talking up their chances of winning the league. Sure they could win the league but just as easily, their mass of attacking tallent might leave their defense exposed week after week as they lose each game 4-5.

Exactly. Or heck, even taking the same United squad Fergie used to the title. I must have missed the challenging part about having a blank cheque to get in the top four with

Thing is Van Gaal has them playing so badly they'll need more than what they have IMO. The balance is completely wrong so it will be interesting when they have their proper wing backs playing, that will be the key IMO. United have been known for getting plenty of crosses in with wingers so he's completely changing the tradition of how they play. I'm just hoping they stick with this 5 at the back bollocks.

For me, this window just made United one of those teams.
Isn't it currently 1300+ straight games where they have had an Academy trained player in the team?
That run will end very soon under Van Gaal in my opinion. That will be the final straw of Fergie's legacy gone.
I know they have always spent money, but this time it's a step too far.

As someone who had a family member play for them in the 50's, I've never really had anything against them - until now.

They had a silly number of games where an academy player was in the team, and for matchday squads its something like since the year 1937, I think they said the other day.
