Mark Chapman put it pretty well on 5 Live during the game earlier, in reply to some rhetoric about the 90s and Keane, Ferdinand and Neville etc. He said that 'they need to stop living in the past, but Manchester United seem determined to live in the past like some 90s theme park'.

We need to start a Glazers in campaign. We can't let this end.

The most effective "Glazers in campaign" would involve letting them stomp us in every game we have and have yet to be scheduled. How does that hit you?

Whilst growing up and watching them dominate for so long this downward spiral is so fucking great, especially as it seems that there is still more to come and they have not hit rock bottom.

Eriksen's decision makes sense now

He got a taste of a relegation battle last season, and was like "yeah I fancy a bit more of that"

Liverpool dropping points is always important but I have to admit seeing them destroy United next week would be pretty great.

Weirdly I think I would love to see United fluke a scrappy win (couple of red cards too?). Prolonging the agony and hopefully Klopp would be bitchy as fuck.
Feels like the chaotic timeline.

It’s actually a good point, they literally cannot get away from that wro - fertile in the stands, every main player a pundit and a voice that millions listen to.

even Ronaldo a player of the past causing all kinda of drama.

long May it continue cos I haven’t forgotten the sheer arrogance that we all just had to accept for years from their fans ???

There is no reason big teams should be big teams forever. Tv money gave a false sense of entitlement and I quite like how badly Man Utd are falling apart
Agreed. I'm old enough to remember Nottingham Forest's back-to-back European Cups.

To be honest, the rot really set in after they thumped us. Solskjaer got a stay of execution and we got shot of Nuno for Conte. If that result had been reversed, who knows how things would be looking now. The sweetest loss ever.

Some might think it’s ludicrous to talk about relegation. But this has such Leeds vibes. It just feels so rotten and there isn’t one player in that team I could currently say they won’t go down “ because of “ their better players Ronaldo Bruno Rashford Sancho seem either totally disinterested or woefully out of form. It’s gonna be zero points after 3 games and then 2 away games to follow. I currently wouldn’t back them to beat a single team in this league. They will be bottom half almost certainly imo.

This opening paragraph

A fish rots from the head down and so do Manchester United. We know the root of most of their problems stem from the boardroom and maybe the Red Devils are damned for as long as the Glazers’ name is above the door. But even if they were owned by a Taliban/Isis consortium, the players and staff at Old Trafford would have no excuse for what they have just served up at Brentford.

Many of them local to us

They we’re in our schools, our high streets, deep in our communities

Rarely see a Utd top around N London these days though

Poch definitely wouldn't sort this mess out.

He needs to work under a top DOF otherwise he's equally as clueless about targetting players to bring in.

The funny thing about ETH is, I think he's already fucked it. The Martinez signing will be one of the worst PL buys ever. 60 mill for a midget CB, and then partnering him with Maguire. They signed a LB they don't need. ETH disregarded Rangnick's advice, went his own way, so there's arrogance there too.

There's no doubt at all that United have gone with his targets, so ETH has to bear responsibility for that. It's like he's never watched PL football before.

That’s what I think too. Maybe another reason why he didn’t get the job with us was because of the targets he wanted to bring in. I must say the other bits we have heard ring true about why he didn’t get the job with us. His English vocabulary is worse than Contes and he seems on screen to have the personality of a wet flannel. Another Hitchen target wasn’t he?

There were numerous posts about Arsenal being in a relegation battle early last season. I really don't see Leeds' vibes here. Leeds were consistently selling their best players in the midst of financial ruin.

Utd's problem is very different and very funny, But won't involve a relegation battle.

Let's be honest this isn't Ten Hags fault not even in the slightest, squad of players are an embarrassment Ten Hag was a promising up and coming coach who's ruining his reputation just by being at United
I think he does have to take some of the blame though. He has bought an defender that is clearly not cut out for this league. He is prioritising Bruno who is useless over Eriksen. He is playing Eriksen as a DM for the first time in his career. He had Varane on the bench and is playing Maguire who is basically a disaster. If I was a Utd fan I'd be worrying he is totally out of his depth.

He certainly isn't their main problem, by a long shot.

But he has got a squad of players who if used correctly could get results against Brighton and Brentford. We saw with Conte it is possible for a manager to come in and make a huge difference.

ETH hasn't made any strong, positive moves yet.

This is pretty accurate and also why I took no notice of the de gea interview after the game. That was all self preservation and not for the team’s benefit but his own.

“Eriksen forcibly made that point to his keeper as soon as Jensen rolled the ball into De Gea’s net but, as the Dane is no doubt discovering, the majority of his new team-mates are incapable of independent thought beyond self-preservation. Some don’t want to make mistakes; many just don’t want the responsibility of making decisions.”
