Big blow for them
Was wondering aloud as much a couple of months back. Seems to me to make more sense to funnel money into Clearlake/Chelsea and whatever other projects they want to get involved with. I think there's simply too much to do in Newcastle to build anything at the top end of European football very quickly. Last season was an outlier for them, and it looks like they can't get away with putting a rocket up them. At least Chelsea already have the money sloshing about the squad.I wonder if Saudi will get tired of this?
They clearly thought they could come in and do what Dubai did at City - spend spend spend until they put themselves on top and then globally takeover.
But this gonna really block them, honestly can't see Newcastle winning any titles if they are having to sell players to kick on.
Would the Saudi's be happy with 5th-8th place finishes every year?
I don't get this train of thought to be honest. Surely the point of sports washing is to build your profile and moral standing, not to just pump money in to something so the yanks can get all the credit if it works. Was wondering aloud as much a couple of months back. I was more thinking, jack it up behind the scenes for now, and then take it over. Which would work even better if they can be seen to be saving it all from the Americans fucking it up.I don't get this train of thought to be honest. They have ties to clear lake sure, but they aren't going to mindlessly pump money into Chelsea fc.
Feels like more injuries across the board this season (unless that's just me?).Newcastle fear Joelinton out for the season
Newcastle United fear midfielder Joelinton will miss the remainder of the season due to a groin injury. The Brazil international is likely to require an operation on a tendon in his groin after sustaining an injury in Newcastle’s FA Cup third-round victory at rivals Sunderland on January 6...theathletic.com
Big blow for Newcastle if this is true
There are. It's a consequence of a football calendar that has been out of whack since the pandemic break in 2020. The summer restart that year, the next summer's Euros, the winter World Cup in 2022, all contributing factors that lead to more stress on players' bodies as their rest periods get shorter and shorter, and now we're seeing them break down more and more often.Feels like more injuries across the board this season (unless that's just me?).
Lengthy VAR stoppages have also been mooted as a contributory factor - VDV's hammy for example...There are. Yes long stoppages in play leading to player's muscles cooling down too much before being called back into action is definitely not helpful.Lengthy VAR stoppages have also been mooted as a contributory factor - VDV's hammy for example...
Its a medium term game. Was wondering aloud as much a couple of months back. Plus stoppage times of 10 plus minutes per half. A year or so ago 5 mins was seen as a long stoppage in a game where there had been plenty of action. Now 5 mins seems a really short amount of time to add onLengthy VAR stoppages have also been mooted as a contributory factor - VDV's hammy for example...
Nothing a bit more money won't sort out.And he passed the Premier league's fit and proper test
I think the correct answer is never. When are the premier league going to follow up on PIF’s “ironclad“ promise that they weren’t run by the Saudi state? that’s been proved a lie already in court documents related to LIV golf.
