Wow, they already got him, and for £8 mill! That's a bargain!
Papiss Cisse and Gomis up front isn't bad. They just need improvements elsewhere as welll.
Sissoko, Ben-Afra are also goalscoring midfielders.

If they get their defence sorted, they could do well.

Incidentally SK, what would be your most exciting XI in world football?

Sissoko has 27 goals from 236 games in his career. One in TEN...not sure he can be claimed as a goal scoring midfielder you nutter! Even Ben Arfa isn't exactly prolific, even for a midfielder. One in five for Newcastle being his average.

Cisse and Gomis upfront might not be too bad, problem is, its not too bloody good either!!!

With all these exciting players at Newcastle, how do you think they will get on this season? Do they need an exciting manager? Maybe a Jean Tigana? Perhaps Paul Ince? Chris Powell? Maybe get Gullit back?

Surely with such an exciting squad Newcastle will be top 6 no problem?

yep,... gomis makes emile heskey look like greavsie.... barcodes have a mountain to climb this season. BUT, Hull and Palace looking like no hope of survival, so just the one relegation spot to avoid -- with Stoke, Sunderland, West Ham, and Saints fighting for that last spot means they have a decent chance. Oh but Pardew and all those mercenaries... <shakes head>

I don't think Southampton will struggle.

I disagree, they are definitely not solid at the back and did not set the prem on fire after pochettino arrived,... if it weren't for some miserable teams around them, they may have been in trouble themselves... time will tell, so many shakey teams there - even west ham, slightly poor start, big sam gets axe, downward spiral,.. could happen too :mask:

I think Newcastle are in danger of playing some dire football next season. Properly dire.

Really?

From February onwards, they beat Chelsea, City and Liverpool and only lost to us 1-0 with a last minute goal at the Lane. Lost narrowly at OT and drew with Chelsea at SB. They were miles better under Pochettino than Adkins, more organised, scored more, conceded less. Think they were like around 8th for best defence after Xmas IIRC.

Shaw is getting better, Ramirez more settled, Lovren and Wanyama could be great signings. Really think they'll get top 10 this year, they have good players in every position, Jay Rodriguez was great after xmas too. Adkins wasn't great there, 24goals conceded in the first 8 games, they could have been much higher in the league.

Yep, really... They only finished 5 points above Wigan, not setting the Prem on fire. They won only 9 games all season,... just like Wigan. Like I wrote, time will tell, but they are not guaranteed safety from the drop....

What's exciting about Gomis? I've watched him a fair bit and been very underwhelmed.

He's black and speaks French. For Spursking, this makes him exciting by definition. Diddy-A fucking Zokora was exciting.

Me, I don't want exciting players. I want good ones.

The guy is an absolute f**ktard, he is the arsehole version of Harry

But he was a bloody good take-no-prisoners RB for us, a genuine Spurs legend, so despite his propensity for talking complete bollocks I'll continue to cut him a lot of slack. On top of that, his epic rant at sports journos a couple of years ago surely sums up our feelings about these tossers.

Well he did play over 500 games for us so

Loic Remy, Papiss Cisse and Gomis up front. Not bad. (Also very cheap - less than our Soldado).
