I can understand his enthusiasm in winning the AFCON. Probably the biggest win for him since he grew up dreaming of this. It's like the World Cup to them in many ways.

Not so much of a "laugh at" post, but just liverpool specific.

This kind of stuff really annoys me, because they're using ignorant comments to belittle the meaning and seriousness of real discrimination.

“It is obvious that Liverpool must accept Salah’s demands. He must stay at Liverpool. He can earn more money, he is the best player at the club with (Sadio) Mané and together they will win many titles,” Diouf was quoted by Tribal Football as saying.

“He is 30 years old and will reach that age in June and I ask him to play four more with the Reds.

“A move to Real Madrid would mean starting again. Salah has to understand that he is African and they will never treat him like the Europeans.

“They will never give him the best contract, like others. The same thing happened to me when I was at Liverpool. They told me not to represent my (national) team.”

It's annoying because there's absolutely no evidence that Liverpool withhold pay based on racial reasons. It seems like Diouf is conflating nationality with the AFCON, where players go off for a month during the middle of the season (not a thing limited to african players either). Even then, I very much doubt Diouf has any idea what Salah is asking for and how the contract negotiations are going - for all he knows, salah could be asking for a contract that Liverpool wouldn't pay for any player. There needs to be a comparator here, like they pay one player an amount, but refuse parity for another, for it to be valid.

That's before you start questioning why a complete plodder would have any comparative idea as to what his time at liverpool was like compared to Salah. He played 3 more games for Liverpool than Soldado did for us (79 vs 76) and scored 10 less goals (6 vs 16).

Liverpool's in a title race with Man City (as well as having reached the EFL final, FA s/f & CL q/f) despite spending a net £220m less over the past five seasons. A club doesn't manage that by letting discrimination influence its decision-making. If Liverpool's stalling over wages it's probably more to do with the fact that they aren't convinced a soon-to-be 30 Mo Salah is worth double the wages of Harry Kane.

Yeah that's my view. They've not ever really been financially liberal, so it seemed like an unnecessary thing to associate it with him being 'african', considering the majority of the squad is BAME.

Just another player trying to create a race issue when there isn't one.

Not weird at all. Every home game should be a cauldron, just most home supporters are shit at creating one.

Yeah I don't mind that at all to be honest, plus every single one of their games are pivotal from now including this one. All in all I'd rather see fans show passion as such than not really.

I really don’t want them to win the league tbh but I have feeling they will.

My stance on them winning the PL has soften since they first won it, I would prefer they do it over City, chavs and eventually Newcastle. But I absolutely do not want them winning the quad!
