Wow 😳😳😳 ... staggering.

Despite the loss in the year and the operating challenges due to the sanctions, the Club continues to comply with UEFA and Premier League financial regulations.
🤔🤔

A little odd they felt the need to actually put that in black and white in their statement.

What I don't understand with Chelsea is that most of their incomings were based on actually winning stuff - league positions/cl.

Also Abramovic bank rolled them to the tune of over a billion, to support the wages and massive spend.

They have a crowd of 41k, ok the tickets may be expensive but not that much. Their wagebill must be out of this world and that's before we get to transfers and manager sackings.

My point is they are not United (bring in huge money through branding) or us (through stadium and low budgets) and, supposedly, not backed by a country.

So how? It's either Boehly is a complete idiot or something fishy is going on.

Let's say they finish 8th and get knocked out by dortmund. That won't bring them much cash.

Next season they will have no cl, a ridiculous wage bill and low income streams..... so how do they not go bankrupt?

Or how long will Boehly persist in throwing cash down the drain? Do they even own Stamford bridge? How much can Chelsea make naturally?

It's actuality starting to look like the Ken Bates era more than the Abramovic one to me.

The financial results for Chelsea will make interesting reading.

Plus about 40:first team players

Which must mean a fire sale or issues

That is the statement for 2021-22 so it does not include Boehly and his crazy spending. The fact that they lost over 100m is telling (if I read that right) this in the season before they went crazy with signings and manager payments etc.

So we will have to wait for this time next year to see the full ramifications of the current spending.

Also this seems like a, yeah we lost 120m but we are doing everything by the book, honest gov.

They can make up for 120m with sales of few players, Conte will probably pay half of that for Lukaku. Boehly didn't really know how CL qualification works it looks like, but once they are in (which will be easier soon) it will be easy for them. Hopefully their old players keep getting worse and their youngsters flop (who are on huge length contracts) and their rebuild gets slowed down.

What's happened to the money used to buy the club I wonder? Just sitting in an account somewhere or found it's way back to Russia?

I’m starting to get the feeling that Abramovich wasn’t entirely playing by the rules at all times….🤔

The Athletic boys saying we are in for Mason Mount. Been looking at him since last summer?

Could see him going somewhere like Newcastle and thriving. Never been sold on him though.

I can see him ending up at Liverpool to placate their fans when they don’t get Bellingham.

Not convinced either. It also annoys how he's always referred to by his full name and never just Mount.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was always like that. And John Alieu Carew. Morten Gamst Pedersen. Mind you, those are fun names to say, especially after a few pints.
