Ludicrous decision. From 'de facto director of football' to the sack within a few weeks. Especially when they had opened contract talks with him.

Wouldn't be surprised if Boehly took charge of the next match himself.

and ran out wearing the number 9 in their next game :ROFLMAO:

I feel like it would be a bad move for Potter whilst Boehly seems to be in charge of everything on the football side. If I was him I would only take the job if I got to choose a DOF.
As we of all fans should be very aware, having a DOF is irrelevant if you have an owner who thinks he knows better.

Potter will do amazing there as he will anywhere if he is given time, I just cannot see half those players buying into his way of doing things and that would mean he would go through some real tough times before he can make his mark.

I see why he would jump at it, but equally I wouldnt be worried about him doing well there, they just wouldnt give him the time.

At least it would hold Brighton back, they are worryingly good this season

I would love to see Harry Redknap cos' he will have looked at all the players they bought before hand, he could be given expert advice fron Jamie a proven football brain and to complete the magnificient 3 Fat Frank as coach. This should ensure their demise that a bunch of cheats deseve.

I love Potter, but if he goes to Chelsea, I feel he will be back at Brighton in 18 months.

It's a nice feeling that a 'big' club is looking for a manager, and feeling 100% secure that it isn't going to be ours that jumps ship.

Trouble is the big jobs don’t get offered to people like Potter very often. More often than not the big English clubs target the elite coaches from the continent. Getting his foot in the door at a top 6 club isn‘t necessarily a bad move.
Yeah I'm sure he'd be tempted. Surely at some point he wants to make the jump to an established big name and money talks, obviously.

Thing is, if he goes there without a pre-season amid this insane fixture schedule and can't instantly win over the dressing room, he could be out of a job by the end of the season when Boehly gets impatient. Suddenly he's no longer the 'next big thing' but rather a guy who 'couldn't handle it at the top level' and he's back down a step managing Everton or whatever.

It's one thing to back yourself, but another to back yourself into a corner. And that's what he would risk doing by taking the Chelsea job at this stage of the season.

Potter going there would both be very depressing and make perfect sense for when we appoint him in 5 years.

Battle of the Bridge II wouldn't feel right if they had Poch.

Zidane on the other hand, I'd love to see it kick off.
