I don’t see it sorry, Sancho is head and shoulders above him hinge the *trade* Dortmund made, their fans don’t seem that bothered.
I was thinking similar myself, there was a time when Chelsea would have had Sancho not the guy who lost his place to Sancho, I am far more gutted City wouldn't let us have Sancho.
He is a good player though even if he isn't getting the rave write ups he was getting two years ago so we'll see what Chelsea do to him.

I work with a Dortmund fan, goes over there regularly to watch them play - mentioned it to him and he just shrugged and said, "Yeah, sounds like us".

Very sensibly, very honestly, he pointed out that a lot of players see Dort as a stepping stone; easy qualification for Europe due to falling standards across the rest of Germany so they can get themselves in the window, but without the pressure of playing for Bayern. He listed about five teams that he used to really look forward to them playing but who are now plummeting in quality - Schalke, Leverkusen, Stuttgart and now with Hamburger into the 2nd tier, the quality of the league has really dived and it's mostly because all of them are now seen as teams happy to sell to the Prem or Spain as they know they will likely get a fat payday out of it.

Well it's widely reported that Man Utd and Real Madrid are both coming very hard to take Pochettino this summer. Given the fact Poch challenged the club to 'be brave' after turning down Madrid last time, and our version of that was taking 3 months to not sign Jack Grealish, being realistic there's a considerable chance he's going to conclude he's taken us as far as he can. It would be an enormous surprise to most unbiased people in football if he were to turn down those 2 offers to stay at a club where he's apparently got absolutely no power in the transfer market.

Dembele obviously is going, as is Alderweireld. I don't imagine Christian Eriksen is running his contract down and turning down all our offers for any other reason than to facilitate his exit from the club. So that's 3 absolutely key personnel and probably the manager leaving before next season.

So we're facing an incredibly big job just to stand still.

Why do we always get these doom and gloom posts everytime our rivals sign someone?

Why is it doom and gloom? Just trying to be objective.

Because you are predicting negative scenarios purely based on how you're feeling, the only reason you're saying this is because Chelsea signed someone, it happens every Summer and January.

I'm not. Objectively, if I was looking at THFC from the outside, would I see Pochettino turning down Real Madrid and Manchester United to stay with Tottenham? A club where he has to sell to buy and is obviously hitting a glass ceiling where he can't take us any higher without investment? No, I'd think he's going to go to a club where there are no such restrictions.

Equally Eriksen, a player who's always talked of using this period of his career as a stepping stone to an elite club, is running his contract down and refusing to sign a new one with us, despite multiple offers of a new deal. What does that say, other than he's going to leave? Obviously there is a chance, like Mesut Ozil, that he'll sign again, but we're not going to pay anywhere near the type of wages that other clubs will be offering him (or the £17m a year the Scum are paying Ozil) , and Ozil reportedly only had an offer from Fenerbache as an alternative, whereas we know Eriksen will have his pick of any club, particularly with one year left.

My subjective belief is that they both love Tottenham and will stay, but looking at it dispassionately, it's hard to make a convincing case that either will be here next season. Unless of course Enic suddenly decide they want to win trophies and invest heavily in the playing squad, but does anyone really believe that's going to happen?

And if we don't, the likes of Pochettino and Eriksen certainly don't, so why would they stick around to keep narrowly missing out?

Right I get all that but my question is why do these doomsday scenarios always appear when our rivals sign someone significant?, it's almost as if other teams doing business means that the roof is going to cave in at Tottenham, just what Christian Pulisic has anything to do with Spurs is beyond me.

All the things you've mentioned, we'll deal with it one way or the other, just like we dealt with the contracts that were running down and the inevitable mass exodus of player's, managers, stadium delays, World Cup fatigue, injuries, drunk goalies etc..

Blah blah falling behind, standing still etc...honestly it bored me to tears 2 years ago.

He needs to be developed which will not happen at Chelsea. He’ll be fucked off to Holland after Chelsea make some money on their US tour.
Nah - Chelsea are not spending £58M to send him out on loan.

Chelsea are preparing for Hazard leaving, and a potential transfer ban.

Well the point bring there is an obvious parallel between us and Chelsea here, in that they're about to lose their best player and are being proactive and getting ahead of the situation. And we seem to be sleepwalking into the loss of a few key personnel.

And honestly, don't you expect people to reflect on one of our direct rivals signing a player we've been chasing for years?

Quite telling that Sancho usurped Pulicic at Dortmund. Dortmund then sell Pulicic to Chelsea for 60 odd million
idk how true it is, but I heard that Pulisic isn't starting games as a sort of punishment for not signing another contract.

So you expect us to sign someone based on the fact that one of our key players may or may not sign do you?

Chelsea have forked out £58m on a player who is gong to be free in 6 months time, let that sink in for a second...that is absolutely mental! Pulisic is a great player with huge potential but he has a very long way to go to produce what Hazard has been producing for Chelsea, it's gonna take some time to get him up to that level.

The irony in your statement is the fact that you said Chelsea are losing Hazard and if that is indeed the case then doesn't that mean that they're gonna be worse off and put them back? Hazard is literally their go to guy for goals/assists/chances created and dribbles, he's 1st in those categories so unless they change their game plan or Pulisic steps up then I don't see how it benefits Chelsea.

We don't even know what's gonna happen with Eriksen yet, just like you don't know what's going to happen with Poch or Toby so before you have a meltdown just chill the f out and let the club deal with it, it's shiny new toy syndrome again.

Well yeah, if we took that view, we would never discuss anything, or have any opinions, and just wait and see what happens.

FYI Pulisic's contract was due to expire in 2020, same as Eriksen's.

It's not a competition between them though. Just because Sancho is doing well doesn't mean Pulisic isn't good. Like I say, he's had a poor few months but it doesn't make sense to write off what he's done for the past couple of years because of it.

Oh you're free to discuss, just don't see why paint a negative scenario.

Enjoy the ride, I am

If you've seen Sarri's quotes today, you will know he has zero plans for Pulisic. Didnt even know about it and was done without his consent. So this is purely a marketing signing. He'll be sent on loan for 2 years elsewhere and end up somewhere else in the PL in 3 or 4 years. Chelsea's dabble in the US market with Miazga won't pay dividends. So they went for the star. He'll be out on loan after their US tour where they'll undoubtedly sell tons of shirts this summer, they'll get the 2 year loan fee, the perm transfer fee, the sell on clause when the new club sells him to a Prem club and other marketing bonuses from the states. They'll make up the fee and then some.

This was probably the worst possible move for him.

He is not going on loan.

Sarri added this:

"The club asked my opinion about one month ago. My opinion was positive, and today I knew I have known that the deal is done, but I didn't know anything."

Even Chelsea don't pay that much money, simply for marketing - particularly since they won't see much of a bump - given that they don't get shirt revenue until they pass a certain threshold. And, even then - they won't get anything if Pulisic does not play.

And, given that the US will play in the Gold Cup, there is a decent chance Pulisic will not even tour with Chelsea this summer...

Gold Cup ends in July - it would be the end of July, early August before Pulisic joins up with Chelsea. He might get one pre-season match.

Interesting that Kovacic didn't even make the bench for Chelsea tonight despite being fully fit.
