On MOTD 2 Lee Dixon said we'd overacheived !What an insult . What arrogance . We have not overacheived , our position in the league is down to playing well. No more - no less. The same was said before when we got into Europe and I get tired of hearing these remarks, especially from knowledgable "pundits" . We deserve the recognition and respect of our rivals - if they can't accept that we have earnt our position then they should keep quiet. The sooner they realise the "Top Four" is not a closed shop the sooner they will wake up to reality. COYS

Let them underestimate. This weekend we've seen what happens when we get hyped up. Take no notice of silly gooners, professional pundit or fan!

I think we and every one else will know whether we have over achieved and are currently in a false position or if we are the real deal after we play Chelsea away at the end of March.

If we are still in a similar position and still third or higher there will be no question that we are very much worthy of being where we are right now.

If however we drop points against the likes of Man City, Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea and fall down the table some what (out of the top four) then those who think we are over achieving will probably be proved right (although by all rights after that Chelsea game we potentially have a very winnnable run in and could catch a second wind even if things go tits up in the next few weeks.)

People talk like our tough run isn't going to yield any points, it will.

Of course we'll drop more points than we have done but we'll do alright. Strangely, I'm relatively confident of taking at least point next week, just think we'll put in a massive effort.

I agree with him, not in a shitty way, but I think he's right.

That's not to say we haven't played well, but nobody expected this from us. We were 1 goal away from going join top the other day, in January. That is massive and heights we could never have imagined we'd be hitting.

Our points total any other season would've seen us top, it's unprescedented.

It's not overachieving though is it? It's exceeding the expectations of other people.

We have a better team than Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, so would be underachieving if we weren't above them. We're also pretty much even with United in terms of squads, and really not far off City. With that in mind I'd say the table is actually an incredibly accurate portrayal of the abilities of the top teams.

I don't think he's said anything that controversial to be honest.

We are 6th out of 6 competitors in terms of the wages we pay. 6th out of 6 in terms of stadium size. 5th out of 6th I believe in terms of revenue. Yet we're third and could have been joint first today.

He didn't mean it in a 'its undeserved way' imo, more that Spurs haven't been involved in a title challenge for decades, are competing with 2 sugar daddy clubs and one of the biggest clubs in the world, with less resources compared to the other teams, and are still going strong.

Didn't he only say we are over-achieving in respect to our target was top 4 at the beginning of the season? There's no harm in that

We haven't over-achieved... All of us, including myself, all agreed (last season) that we were a top striker away from challenging for the title. After the signing of Ade (and Parker)...surprise, surprise, we are challenging for the title.

What bollocks. You don't overachieve over the course of 21 games.

The teams around us have underachieved massively

I disagree.

We are currently sitting on more points, at this time of the season, than Utd were last season and they won the title, we are currently sitting third.

Effectively the stakes have been raised and the likes of Cheatski, the goons and the bin dippers are struggling to keep up. We have been steadily improving for a number of years and it was always on the cards that we would be putting in a title challenge.

I have believed, and even predicted on another board 2 seasons ago, that we would be challenging for the title within 3 years. At the time, Citeh looked disjointed so, although it could be seen that it was only a matter of time before they got it together, I saw us cementing a top 4 spot with a title a very real possibility.

So, all in all, we have achieved the level that our squad ability dictates, it really has nothing to do with the teams around us underachieving as their squads are inferior at this point in time, those below us anyway.

It is incredible how in the space of 4 days we have gone to be one of the inform teams and title contenders to overachievers and not got the bottle to go and win the title.

Are people forgetting that no one has been perfect this season? Does Dixon remember how Arsenal got on at home to Wolves? How did we do against Swansea away?

Mind you I think we played better when everyone is writing us off! So maybe they should keep slating us.

Dixon, Hansen and Shearer. Probably the worst pundits on TV.
Hansen has been waiting for months to use the phrase he did on Saturday night. "Teh ymay have a new manager and new players, but this is still Tottenham. And Tottenham being Tottenham were never going to win that game".

I think the fact that most of our rivals have acknowledged that we have been playing the best football in the league proves that we have not overachieved. When old red nose himself comes out and says it then you know your position in the league is completely merited.

In saying that I think talk of winning the title with just less than half a season to go is just farcical regardless of what matches are left to play. It would be farcical to talk of any team winning the league just over half way through a season.

Lee Dixon is the kind of guy that justifies the removal of the ban on the C word !!

I think that's what Dixon probably meant - because he's usually pretty fair, and he's not a bad pundit either (playing career aside).

He's probably using the Sky definition of a word, whereby the actual word used isn't what he intended. Or something like that. I like Dixon as a pundit.

Let them underestimate us - you notice how as soon as people start talking up our title chances we draw against Wolves? I'm not believing the hype and then secretly hope that we'll sneak it in May.
