If the price is right it could be a really good signing. Has played everything from CF, AM to LWB this season and that versatility can make him a really good rotational option.

Can’t believe his many people want this average, squad player.

meanwhile our rivals are looking at mudryk and felix.

lack of ambition astounds me.

Trossard will be another one who doesn’t perform and we struggle to get rid of in 1-2 years time.

Alexis Mac Allister would be a far better purchase and much younger.
Having a different opinion than you on a player doesn't equate to lack of ambition.
Trossard's PL proven, Mudryk and Felix aren't. Our last signing from Ukraine was a big flop and Felix has been struggling in Spain, so what tells you he'll be a success in the PL?

I tend to agree with those who say he would be an average signing. However, maybe it's the case that Conte and the coaching staff believe Gil will develop into the player we all hope he will be so don't want to halt his development too much by signing a player that will significantly lessen his playing time...just a thought...

Interesting because my thought with Gil the last few games was are we really going to go for another left-footed player with Kulu/Gil still at the club til end of the season? Obviously, I know Gil can play off the left, but it seems Conte really likes inverted 10s.

Trossard is interesting to me because I think he would fit that inside 10 position really well, and probably better than Richarlison does, and I think he could put pressure on/battle with Son who has had his struggles this season sadly. Also as others have mentioned, he can play at wingback if needed.

But over everything, I do think he fits Contes system well and for that reason I like the fit.

Son/Trossard - Kane/Richarlison - Kulu/Gil is a good front six. Conte probably wishes he could upgrade Gil to Zaniolo, but Gil has earned his right to battle until the end of the season

Could be a clever signing. He's on course to have one of his most productive seasons and can play LW, AM, CF, RW and apparently, as a wingback as well. With Son struggling for form, Lucas struggling with his injury and us needing cover for Deki, Trossard could be the January signing that helps us stay in the race for top 4 this season.

He’s out of contract in the summer/ 18 months. PL proven, opportunistic singing. All of which makes me think he is an option, but perhaps farther down the list. Remember how The Don operates with his spinning plates.

I have the same feeling and exactly why i was thinking Terrier was the most sensible choice (out of those linked) for us at the moment. Until he got his injury that is. I still don't think Trossard is that player tho, we need someone who can develop into the long term Son replacement IMO and he is not going to be that player.

Yeah, both him and Edwards have "further down the list" vibes to them. I'm sure we did enquire but not with any real intent.

He's a good player don't get me wrong and I'm sure someone could pull up a post I've made about him when he scored but is he going to add real depth and quality?

Im not convinced. Is he better than Lucas? Different skillsets but I'm not convinced.

I can see him scoring some goals sure but I can also see the moans when we aren't any better and calling for serious upgrades and investments.

I like the idea of a Zaniolo because he is good now and has huge upside. I don't see this guy being any better than he is right now though.

Let's see, hopefully as usual I'm wrong.

A lot depends on how highly Conte rates Bryan Gil. If Conte thinks that Bryan has the quality to develop into a legitimate first-choice player for us over time, it may be sensible to bring in a utility player who can cover multiple areas and provide much-needed squad depth, as opposed to a bigger signing. With the uncertainty around Bryan it's hard to judge how we should be planning our business in attacking areas.

Fits with Conte wanting players that are ready 'now' vs younger players for the future.

Imo a blend of experience + youth across the squad is ideal and Trossard comes with versatility across numerous attacking positions. Could have been really helpful during the period of richy and kulu both being injured whilst son was off form. Gets the nod from me providing it doesn't block other business eg porro

If Gil ever hits the level Trossard has in the last 12 months for a sustained period in his career we’ll have done alright, but he’s nowhere near that level as things stand. Doesn’t play the same position as Gil though, so it wouldn’t matter

Only way it makes any sort of sense to me is as a Lucas Moura replacement and a bit of an upgrade, but we probably have that already in Bryan Gil.

As people have already alluded to, I actually think this would be more as back-up/rotation for Sonny rather than Kulusevski.

I think it is more likely one of those "Opportunity" signings that are always mentioned. I think most would agree that Richarlison is better as a striker than off the left so the idea of a Sonny/Trossard -Kane/Richarlison - Kulusevski/Gil (Or A N Other if we sign someone in Jan) is actually pretty good depth and would allow Kane and Son a bit more rest without too much of a worry.

I think even if Conte is convinced Gil could become an important player one day I think we would still want a long term replacement for Son. That wont be Gil as although he is very comfortable on the left Conte likes his forwards inverted to balance out the attacking full backs. We had ITK a while back that we had some interest in Mudyrk. Now obviously we have zero chance in getting him, but a player like that who can also play on the right would make more sense to me then Trossard. Your right tho, as a short term option i can see the thinking, but i still don't think its the right move personally.

Good player but this fully stinks of Levy trying to lowball Conte.
Played in our shape, versatile, prem experience, no resale value. It actually stinks of Conte (think Young, Moses at Inter) but I guess if people don’t rate him, it’s a Levy signing based on no evidence at all.
