Another cheap option we will struggle to get rid of.

He's ok, will have a couple of nice moments but he isn't going to threaten our first choices place and isn't going to push us on.

If the sum of our ambition is fourth then I'd rather a younger player with room to improve

Tottenham accelerate their interest in Brighton star Leandro Trossard but a deal for the Belgium international is not imminent and any move is likely to take place later in the transfer window

  • Tottenham have accelerated their interest in Brighton attacker Leandro Trossard
  • Trossard is in line to leave Amex Stadium during the January transfer window
  • However, a move is not imminent and any deal will take place later in the month
  • Trossard was left out of the squad for Brighton's game against Middlesbrough
Tottenham are interested in Brighton attacker Leandro Trossard as Antonio Conte eyes reinforcements to his squad before the end of the month.

Belgium international Trossard is in line to leave the Amex Stadium during the January transfer window.

Spurs are keen on the 28-year-old and it is understood that their interest has accelerated over the past few days.

Brighton aware of the their rivals’ attraction to Trossard, though sources claim a move is not imminent with any deal likely later in the window.

Trossard’s deal expires at the end of the season and he was omitted from Brighton’s squad that beat Middlesbrough 5-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday as doubts grow over his future on the south coast.

Since joining Brighton in 2019 from Genk, Trossard has scored 25 goals made 14 assists in 121 appearances for the club.

Love that we have a new stage to the Spurs transfer saga - "verbal offer." Add that to "weighing up an offer" and "considering an approach."

Honestly, seems like a good option. I've had him in FPL a few times but he always seems to be inconsistent and go off the boil as soon as I pick him up. Scores some beauties though!

Feels a bit like when the Bissouma news broke. From no story to strong interest in the space of 20 minutes and was signed by end of the day.

I'd love Trossard he's a quality little player.

If we could get him for around £20m it would be a great signing.

Him and Porro would really make a difference going into the second half of the season.

Not a bad player at all but he's more of a Match of the Day player than people realise.

Good technically and unplayable 6/7 times a season but ghosts for periods. Stats-wise he's nothing special and at 28 he's not going to improve too much you'd think. Also Brighton fans seem to think he's better centrally than on the wing.

Would be fine but personally think we could be a bit more creative with the attacking signing than this.

Didn't realise he'd played at both wing back positions for Brighton and Belgium. Seems like a solid utility player.

Doesn't get me excited really, but if it's cheap and he's on decent wages and Conte wants him, then fair enough.

Really stepped up his level back end of last season and so far this season. On the last 12 months form he looks a really good little player. Very tricky, agile and technical, creates dangerous moments very often when he gets the ball around the box. Anything around 20m would be very good business. Can also play LWB and ST if needed. Would be one of those “sensible” type signings. Proven in the league, upgrades our wing cover, versatile and if he keeps up his form of the last 12 months will definitely not be out of place amongst our first 11 in the same way Richarlison isn’t

I'd actually quite like this signing to be honest. A clever player, comfortable with the ball at his feet and receiving it from deep, creative but also knows where the goal is...

I think we could potentially be more free-flowing and comfortable in possession with the likes of Bentancur, Kulusevski and Trossard all on the pitch at the same time. If we're not playing with an out an out creative midfielder of any sort then this is the type of player that we could really benefit from having in the side.

Not greatly exciting on the face of it but I think it could turn out to be a clever signing.

Not for me.. thought he was a lot younger than 28. Had a good start to the season but not exactly set the league alight in his time at Brighton

Can’t believe his many people want this average, squad player.

meanwhile our rivals are looking at mudryk and felix.

lack of ambition astounds me.

Trossard will be another one who doesn’t perform and we struggle to get rid of in 1-2 years time.

Alexis Mac Allister would be a far better purchase and much younger.

Not a worldie or going to trouble the first XI and limited development left given his age, but Prem experienced and would make a perfect Gil/Moura squad replacement. Tidy player. If not massively expensive, he could be a decent option for a few years, but perhaps the money would be better spent on a younger, more long-term option who can make a real difference.

I don’t think, legally, any Journo can write a Spurs transfer piece without the above caveat in it somewhere.

Weird cos I've seen Brighton fans say he's better on the wing than centrally haha

I'd take him.

Brighton won't even miss him, they probably have about 10 players waiting in the wings who are better knowing them haha

Could make a rather strong argument that Trossard is a better player than both currently. I'd take Trossard's talent and particularly Prem experience over them two all day long.

No doubting the talent of the two examples you mentioned, just more to say i think you're underestimating Trossard a fair bit.

Trossard- 16 PL appearances, 9 goal involvements.

This is far from average. Was also in this kind of form second half of last season

We've "accelerated” our interest to the point where we may make a move "later in the month" ?

Hmm decent player but probably someone i'd only want to move for if he was 5-6 years younger and could improve further.
