I know it's early days, but supposing we actually get through the qualifying round and into the Group stage of the Champions League, will we go all out and put out an Arsenal style youth team for the league cup and see how they do.

To be honest I've always found it a little bit twattish and demeaning of the competition when teams do it, but I just feel if we were to try to compete seriously on all four fronts, even with the squad we have, we will burn out, and I know which two competitions I'd rather we focus on.

It's also a great way to give the few players from the first team squad who haven't had much of the action to keep sharp, and obviously it's massively helpful in the development of youngsters like Bostock, Parrett, Rose, etc, who we've seen very little of so far despite the hype. We could then bring in some big guns if we reach the Semis.

What do people think?

I agree on fielding youth for the Mickey Mouse but I disagree that there are only two competitions we should focus on, especially given our history in the FA Cup.

Early rounds a mix of youth and those in need of games. But like United, once it gets to the business end of the competition we put in the the big guns. It is still one of our best chances of silverware.

You know, just because we qualified for CL, doesn't mean that this cup is now the mickey mouse cup.

Let's get CL qualification again, challenge the title, then I'd like to see priority given to other comps.

In order

League
CL
FA Cup
League Cup

We have a big enough squad to play a very decent 'second' string in the Carling Cup.

Yeah, I didn't mean we shouldn't focus on The FA, but I have to say it would come third in my priorities.

1. Premier League
2. Champions League
3. FA Cup
4. League Cup

Simple as that.

I'll take a League cup win any day, its a fantastic cup and it feels great when we win.

if United can compete we should too considering we never go for the title anyway ;-)

We have a big enough squad to play more or less full strength every game with some necessary rotation imo. Just look at the week we had, played 120 mins on sunday, beat Arsenal on Wednesday after they had over a week off, then we beat Chelsea 3 days later whereas they had one more day off than us. I don't think we should play youth team, but a mix.
