Isn’t “we plan to talk about a new contract” just part of the posturing and negotiations?

We’ve even had it with Harry a few days ago, and today we’ve gone back to him leaving.

Well I can't remember Lukaku's agent talking about renewing. Nor Kane's agent coming out and saying publicly that they will discuss an extension.

So it's different.

I have to say this one now looks increasingly unlikely. Same old story with Spurs. Them selling Lukaku has probably resolved their issues.

Everything you hear from every source is posturing, ITK included. That's what negotiation is all about, shaping opinion, urgency, etc. Inter/Martinez should be saying this to maximize the transfer fee and personal contract terms. Levy, of course, has to maintain that he will never sell . . . until he does.

Lautaro obviously enjoys being at Inter and would prefer to stay, but Inter are still in trouble in financial terms so may decide to sell. His agent is naturally putting the onus on the club. I wouldn't completely write this off just yet.

It is over guys and I bet it has been for a while hence the lack of news/. Here's the translation from Di Marzio's article

Inter, renewal tests with Lautaro. Agent: "He wants to stay"
These are hot hours at Inter.

The transfer market is in full swing: with Lukaku's departure from Chelsea, the operations for the Nerazzurri are intensified for hours.
In addition to the incoming movements (with Dzeko and Dumfries close to signing), Inter have now also scheduled a meeting with Lautaro Martinez's agents to talk about the future.
In the next week the parties will meet in Milan and discuss the possibilities of renewal of the Argentine player: the meeting will be decisive not so much to get to the signatures as to understand if there really are the margins to prolong the adventure together (until 2026) or less.
The agent's words: "Lautaro is fine at Inter. He will remain without offers from English clubs"

Meanwhile, Lautaro's agent spoke to TyCSports microphones, confirming the player's desire not to leave: "He will not leave Inter despite the proposals from English clubs. Lautaro is happy at Inter and loves the club. We will meet. next week to talk about the new contract. He wants to stay: we'll see. "

How so? If they have 2 players, one wants to go and they can get £90m+ for him, the other is happy to stay and they can only get £60m for him, of course they'll sell the £90m player.

I don't get how this can be used against us in any way. As per usual, you're quick to pull this line out when any negative news arrives regarding a transfer.

He may want to stay, but if they’re desperate to sell it could still happen.

Also, if they can’t reach a contract agreement, I don’t see Inter letting it get to a situation where he could go cheap/on a free while the club is in such dire straits.

Seemed like we always had an outside chance, we still might. I guess a lot depends on whether Kane stays or goes

New contract with Inter? They’ll probably give him less wages than now. I expect that once he sees the contract Inter is offering to him, he runs to the airport and flies straight to hotspur way.

Can the journalist who said that we had agreed a fee make himself known please. They need to be held to account.

Who knows, maybe we agreed one. And then goalposts move, the player prefers different, doesn't need to be false information.

If this is off, go and get Isak. He's signed a new deal but Roma seem to be interested and Sociedad have a price in mind for him.

For the money quoted, i much prefer Isak to both Vlahovic and Martinez.
