To be honest and I've said it before so apologies for repeating myself but I think these types of signings are important, at least to try and make every now and then. They're the type that not only excited the fans, but will have the players at the club thinking 'shit, we're really trying to get somewhere with this signing' and keeps everyone on their toes as well as raising the belief. It's one reason why I thought the Dybala transfer could have been so influential.
Absolutely, this type of transfer is what really gets fans excited for a season. Suddenly everyone wants to tune in to see how they perform, you see a lot of shirts with their name on the back etc. I still remember us signing Edgar Davids while on holiday and being so excited, it's one of my best memories as a child.

I asked @Ossie85 about him back in 2018:

Difficult to describe him, because I can't think of anyone similar. But he's the complete forward. Does well every offensive aspect of the game. Can score with his right, left, headers, penalties, can assist, can play counterattack, can play as a playmaker. He does everything well. 99% he will go to the World Cup with Higuain and Aguero, leaving players like Icardi out.
He did this yesterday

That is filthy

76 million now being quoted.
This seems like a hell of a lot of money if we are not selling Kane.
If we are selling Kane he's cheaper so I dunno really what to think as we will need a replacement.
The first agreed price of 60 million was high enough- this just seems too excessive for me.

EDIT

Just seen this:
Arsenal are ready to offer Lautaro Martinez a lucrative £275,000-a-week contract to tempt him to leave Inter Milan and have a crack at the Premier League.

That's too expensive for us!

Guys. Last bit of 'ITK' was years ago. Had a drink with someone yesteday, who is extremely close to Martinez camp. Told me no chance of this happening as it stands. Inter don't have any desire to sell. We don't have the money currently to complete this deal. Do with this as you will.

To be honest he's not worth that kind of money. He's kind of luxury player, similar to Alli. More flexible than him but still I think team set up must suit him so he can shine. Even if the price would be lower I don't know if he is what we are looking for.

With the reports of them trying to sign Insigne, Dumfries and obviously held talks with Correa agents, they must mean more money is coming in other than the 40 mil or so from Lukaku (Due to them still owing so much to United)

If the reports are true and we are willing to give up Kane, no brainer that we will over spend for Martinez, although we'll need more than him up front.

Appreciate the info, but we know the reality of their situation,. I'm sure they don't want to sell, but if he's not signing a new contract they'll have to.
They're also lining up Dzecko, Zapata, Correa and Insigne, why if it's only Lukaku going?

I think this is happening.

Theyre being linked with so many second strikers. They have just got to make a stand for their fans.

If City offer £150m straight cash for Kane, and we could get Martinez, Vlahovic and a CM (maybe Zakaria) for that money, would you do it???

FWIW I would.

Iffy on Zakaria, but yes I would. As Trix said, I would rather the painful rebuild be done as much as possible now so these young players have time to settle under Nuno.
