Yeah but we were talking about the fee, which presumably is based on how long City will think they can get the best out of him for.

If they get 5 years out of him then maybe £70m wouldn't have been ridiculous. But I suspect they know they won't.

Who knows if he'll be there in 5 years but the guys a beast. He'll be playing top flight football when he's 32.

Problem is we can't spend the £50m on one player because we won't pay the wages of a player of that value.

This is a problem certainly.

But we already have the player who Walker was dropped for last season, so do we need a £50m replacement? Probably not.

In terms of spending the £50m elsewhere in the squad...I think you're right we'll struggle based on our wage structure.

I don't get these comments because he does has pace. Fact. So it doesn't matter what he'd be like without pace.

It does matter if he gets an injury and loses that pace. Also matters that as he gets older, he will probably lose some of that pace that makes him such a good right back.

I have to say I'm a bit surprised at the reaction in here considering that it's been obvious that he would go since April.

Poch said after the NLD that we would sell players, but only as a part of our larger transfer plan. This is part of that plan in action, let's just hope we don't balls up the rest of it.

If you would have said at the end of last season we'd get 55m for him, i'd have taken their arm off. Wasn't there itk a couple seasons back saying the club were worried that he wouldn't play past 30 because of the injuries he'd had?

If City had any sense they'd have gone after Kieran Trippier for £25m.

But they don't, and they didn't, so fuck them. Champagne!

why would that be sense? he isn't good enough for them, they'd still have to go out and find another RB with strength and Pace to deal the best wide men in the league and CL

Good luck to him. Served us well apart from the odd brain fart. Let's invest the money wisely. His head was definitely gone towards the end of the season and Tripps was a worthy replacement. Coys

wont be too long till we get the classic, Trippier is better anyway comments. I like those

I've been saying long before all this Walker transfer talk that Trippier was a better player, just with less pace and I still stand by that .

I'm pretty sure he did do that with Southampton re Bale so unless we're both tripping the same thing (not impossible) I think he did do that.
I sure Southampton approached us about Bale for a final payment that was less than the total but they were desperate for quick cash.

"Sheffield United have a 10 per cent sell-on clause inserted into the £9m deal which saw Walker and Kyle Naughton join Spurs."

5% for Kyle Naughton and 5% for Kyle Walker or 10% for both? That´s the question.
You know that 5 % + 5 % wouldn't add up to a total of 10 %, right?

fair enough.

think trippier is good against average teams who can do nothing but try to contain us because he has much better pass on him.
But against top wide men...think he's in for some long 90 minutes judging by what hazard and martial did to him in the end

I'm disappointed with the what the fee looks to be according to reports (seemingly not less than £50m, but under £60m). When you compare the calibre of player Walker is in the Premier League versus the fees they have paid for the likes of Stones and Ederson, I don't think we've got a 'good' deal there. We've probably cleared what I would consider to be the 'bare minimum threshold', but I don't think this is anywhere near the "OMG, Levy has rinsed them but good!" money that some of you good people consider it.
