I'm presuming your post was aimed at my one above

sure we want players that want to play for us so sign Peter Crouch and be content and drop dreaming

No it wasnt, i just see lots of people saying they didnt want him, hes not we need then as soon as it looks like he may go somewhere else the shit hits the fan.
My point is, if we are the fall back he can sod off.

You can understand why we (or any aspirational club) would want a Huntelaar; from a football and business perspective he makes sense. Whether he's the best option out there for us in relation to what we have and who else is available is debatable but what we must not do is get ourselves fucked up like we last year waiting on Arshavin.

I can understand wholeheartedly why the club are prepared to dick around a bit where perceived top drawer players are possibly attainable (the hit all the buttons - team, marketing, merchandising, re-sale etc) but this summer there are players available who would definately compliment our team and it would be folly to miss out on these chasing the elusive dream.

I agree, and I'm not happy that he could end up coming to us because we're the last resort if Arsenal or Milan don't make a bid. His choices are getting pretty limited, and he's got to go somewhere.

Lets just hope that if he comes he scores a lot of goals, plays well, and helps us achieve something, regardless of what choice we were.

Realistically, I dont think he would make much difference to the dynamics of our attack. Cant see him being a player that will drop deep, back to goal and allow others to finish off moves.

He will be similar to JD and Bent - sit near the last defender, occasionaly involve himself in the build up play - but in the end will want a ball over the top or on the floor that can give him some space to work a shooting chance or oppurtunity.

I have no doubt that Huntelaar would score a shit load of goals at United, surplus of 20 just in the EPL I reckon. But do we have the midfield and creativity to give the guy so many chances?

I think Bent and Pav would have been a lot more succesful last season if we did.

Huntelaar is a great player, and id like to see him in a spurs shirt purely because he would be a good investment and a fantastic draw for the club and for other players. But ideally - he isnt really what we need. Saying that, I could see him scoring goals for us.

Yet they've put their Ronaldo bonanza in the piggy-bank and signed Owen…

Well both are finishers. One is free and the other would cost £20 mill or theirabouts.

Its a risk, but fergie is shrewd and given the choice, id have probably done the same thing.

United will create chances - thats a given. Owen will do well, I have no doubt about that, he'll stick away whatever is given to him.

Likewise I think Huntelaar would. He is a goalscorer.

I agree that hunter wont make much difference to the team. Harry is right in that someone like vieira will give the team more presense and dominate the midfiled. This is a quality which our current midfield lacks. Modric and palacios are good players but they are not someone who can dominate a game

HARRY REDKNAPP'S TOUCH OF KLAAS

He'll make Huntelaar Spurs' top earner

TOTTENHAM TARGET - Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

By AIDAN MAGEE, 25/07/2009
HARRY REDKNAPP will fly to Amsterdam this week to make Klaas-Jan Huntelaar the highest-paid player in Tottenham's history.

The Holland international, 25, is among Spurs' main transfer targets this summer. And they are prepared to break through their wage structure to bring him to White Hart Lane.

A fee of around £18million was agreed in principle with Real Madrid, shortly before Redknapp travelled to Holland 10 days ago for talks with the player's representatives. And the Spurs boss will return this week with a package that could be worth more than £90,000 a week depending on appearances and goals.
Huntelaar earns £55,000 a week at the Bernabeu after tax but his wage deal would dwarf Ledley King's £75,000-a-week contract.

The Dutchman scored eight goals in 20 league games for Real last season but looks like being a casualty of the club's lavish spending programme. Spurs look to have beaten off competition from Stuttgart and are now confident they can persuade Huntelaar to test himself in the Premier League.

Arsenal also made an inquiry last season but have since cooled their interest.

I just don't see us getting KJH now that appears we have signed Crouch? unless we have a buyer for Pav lined up..........?

As i have said before on this thread somewhere, KJH resembles more of a Defoe type than a target man.

If we get shot of Pav & Bent and replace with KJH and Crouch our 'aitch' has done very very well.

Yeah i reckon you are right it will be just Crouch.

I think Crouchie would be pretty excited about joining us and he knows our history etc and a good bit of self satisfaction after being here as a lad and getting moved on.

Whereas i haven't heard KJH telling us he supported us as a boy or saying anything either way as all we have heard is $$$$ and in the current climate of mercenary footballers i prefer to get the feeling of a player wanting to join us rather than Real having to subsidize his wages.(if that is true)

Just not getting the right vibes here about KJH and i bet Stuttgart felt the same.

Could it not be that we are going for both Crouch and Hunt? I just got this feeling that Pav is on his way out too (I hope not)
