As a former player I am surprised what venom Kinnear has towards the club where he spent most of his career. He was always very anti Spurs when he was at Wimbledon and now talking about Shay Given : " Harry would be wasting his time making the call. And why would Given want to go there anyway ? Newcastle are a much bigger club than Spurs ".

I think Kinnear's problem is that he feels bitter when he looks back at himself as a quick energetic young full back in his Spurs days and then looks at himself in the mirror today .........

I wonder what exactly he thinks makes Newcastle a 'Bigger club'?

Maybe all the cups, Euro Cups and leagues they have won?? Now how many is that exactly?

That's true - the other thing I'd deduce from the statement is that there's a real chance that if we bid he might leave so it sounds kind of desperate. Given his history with the club its a bit disappointing to say the least.

The only things that are bigger are their stadium (not for long) and their fans

Newcastle and their fans seem to equate having a big stadium with being a big club.

The fact is that in terms of fanbase, world recognition and success Spurs are MASSIVE compared to Newcastle....and I think Kinnear probably knows that.

For a signal of just how big Newcastle are look at how how quickly anyone who is linked with buying them distances themselves from the barcodes.

I'm sure he means Kinnear being a former player.

Kinnear won more with Spurs than Newcastle have in his lifetime.

I thought Joe Kinnear was a great player for us and he and Knowles were a really exciting pair of backs but as a person and a manager he is a complete t**t and I'd rather try and forget he has any connection to us at all.

As for the bigger club - he's having a laugh, surely.

As they say on Merseyside "Calm down, calm down!"

What else would you expect him to say? He's just doing his job, in an old school kinda way, a bit like 'Arry would. The last thing on his mind at the moment is whether or not he upsets the sensitive fans at WHL, and his comments aren't even for our ears. His audience is on Tyneside and he's just trying to get the best for what is currently his team. Fair play to him - anybody with half a brain knows what he's up to, and I think we'd be fools to take offence.

Don't disagree with anything you say, but he's still a t**t - he has no class and I would be devastated if he were ever to join us in any capacity.

I wouldn't be devastated. I used to like Kinnear and although I had a fair share of jokes when he joined newcastle because I felt he was a bit too old skool for the PL these days he's actually grown on me a lot in recent weeks.
