Kaboul has a lot of potential, and has the ability to become a great Premiership player. I just hope that Ramos and co will give him more time.

I still want to see him given a chance alongside King / Woodgate at CB for a run of games. I believe that he can be become an awesome centreback, and maybe should be rotated with King when King isn't fit, so he can develop some sort of partnership with Woody. I think for the rest of the season I want to see a team of

Robbo
Hutton Woodgate Kaboul Gilberto
Lennon Hudd Taarabt Steed
Berba Bent/Keane

with Zokora and Jenas obviously not left out totally and rotating maybe. Hudd and taarabt maybe when Bent plays so the midfield create more, and when Keane plays, he makes up for Zokora and JJ's lack of creativity.

Kaboul in midfield would at least give the defenders a chance to sort out his cock-ups!

seriously though I think defensive midfield would suit him and I would like to see him take a few free kicks from just outside the penalty area.

He's a kid who had played barely fifty league games for Auxerre before joining us and getting chucked in at the deep end in a league that's not only hugely superior but a great deal faster. Anyone who expected him to come in and be a hugely commanding CB needs to put their crack pipe down. Given the circumstances, he's done remarkably well. Martin made it very clear that he and Comolli regarded him as a player that would only start to come good two years down the line.

Leave aside the various theories as to why we didn't sign an experienced CB as well; they're irrelevant. In a couple of years I'm sure we'll regard him as £8m very well spent. He has, I think, played DM in France, but, again, let's just give him time to adjust to the EPL first.

Check out his goals to games ratio compared to Jenas. Hmmm we've got nothing left to play for. Why not go for a Wenger style (I'm French an arrogant so I'll make a mockery of whatever competition I wish).

We'd probably get spanked, but until you give these kids a go you never know. It's a shame we haven't got to play Utd again it would be the ideal time.

Yes, we would get spanked. And, thankfully, you aren't picking the team. Get real.

Right, I'm back, and I think you're all nuts. Apart from SS57.

Clearly something is wrong! He is not a diamond in the rough, he is just not what we hoped he would be. Just because he cost a shit load of cash, it doesn't mean he has a lot of potential. It means he was misjudged. He is not the next Baptista...he is Boumsong's protege.

FFS, we concede a goal an average of every 45minutes when Kaboul plays. Wake up!

Its quite simple imo with Kaboul...he needs a bit more time to adjust and he'll become an outstanding defending. The same applies imo of Beniot Assou-Ekotto as a left back, who got unbelievable stick at a time when we had no effective cover on the left wing/midfield. Jol made the biggest mistake under his watch of not playing Edger Davids on the left side of midfield when BAE played and constantly switched players, which did not help his development (the talent imo is clear)

I think he needs more games at CB and let him settle there (his first position) rather than use him as a CM.

He needs to play well in his No1 position in a tougher league than he is used to before trying him all over the pitch!

Didnt they say Distin was sh*te after his first season here. In fact so were Toure and Vidic and a few others that i seem to forget.

I remember loads of people (not on here...) saying Rio Ferdinand should play in midfield when he was a kid at West Ham. The same things that Kaboul is accused of were being chucked at Rio, and the suggestion was to play him DM.

Well Rio carried on at CB. And you know - he became a bloody good one too.

Give Kaboul time people. He's a diamond in the rough right now, but there's a big ol' rock in there for sure

Was thinkin along the same lines. Kaboul reminds me of Rio when he first broke through. He made similar mistakes, ie positioning and concentration. These will both improve with experience. If given the time I reckon he could become a very good centre back

Ok, so there are a few exceptions to the rule.

But what makes all on here so confident that he'll be one of them?
