If we offer serious money then why isn't it feasible? Everyone has a value - Wont chelsea have to starting balancing their books with the FFP coming more Into play soon?

Were a london club, on the up with quality all over the team now. Mata is quality and a CL player but we can be a credible offer these days!

Even if Mata was for sale, there would be a host of foreign CL clubs forming up in front of us. Chelsea would never sell him to a rival.

I've mentioned this before but it's obvious why this IS gonna happen... we will let Bale go to Man Utd and take Rooney + 60m and that there is the only way Mourinho is gonna get Rooney.. from us, for Mata. We get Chelsea to sign something to make sure.
It will stop so many things happening:

Real won't get Bale, so Arsenal won't get Benzema or Di Maria, Man Utd won't get Mata, but will get Bale who will replace Young etc.. but only play as a winger, so some improvement, and Chelsea won't get Eto and will instead be saddled with 'Roomey' while we get Mata to play LW or 10. Sounds fair to me.:D

that would make jose a fucking hypocrite!. he's said he's got no problem selling to rivals.. making that public would be all it takes imho to shut him up

The Guardian transfer blog has now picked up the story. Don't think it will ever happen but we can all dream.

Actually it would make AVB a hypocrite after saying we don't talk about other teams players and it's disrespectful and wrong to.

There are exceptions to every rule, no? No one will think AVB is being a hypocrite, they'll just think he's taking the piss and probably tip their hat to him. The gloves are off now between THFC and CFC aren't they? They put one of our guys in the hospital, it's time to put one of theirs in the morgue.

(a movie quote. Please don't think I'm being literal! This is all just fun.)

why cant we!.. avb signed him for Chelsea!.. mourinho is there to be shot down like any other big mouth wanker!.. what goes around comes around & he's made more enemies than friends both here & abroad.

Because wether we like it or not we are not an elite team here or in Europe, if mata was for sale their would be much bigger fish across Europe including united that would be all over it.

I would just rather us not embarrass ourselves by making a big public bid to try and unsettle a player... What happens if Mata himself comes out and laughs at us saying that moving from Chelsea to spurs would be a massive step down etc etc.

Make a discreet enquiry by all means but all this lets unsettle him is nonsense! IMO of course :)

If they pull a knife, we pull a gun. They shend one of our guysh to the hoshpital, we shend one of their guysh to the morgue. That'sh the Tottenham way!

Never going to happen - not in a million years.

Mata's class, while I would love him to come to Spurs, we'll never pull it off...

Firstly, do you honestly think that Roman would sell to us after we flatly denied to sell him Modric, because I certainly don't. Then there's the whole other factor of if he would even want to play for Spurs.

IF he were for transfer listed (for definite - i.e. Mourinho/Roman confirmed he was surplus to requirements), he'd much sooner choose a team such as United as part of the Rooney swap deal (if that were to go ahead), or a team with CL. Hell, he'd probably move back home to Spain - Atletico Madrid are supposedly interested, and I'm sure he'll have loads of clubs lining up for him.

The bloke obviously loves Chelsea, and I can't see him going to a London rival - he seems to care about the fans and I can't see him wanting to cause a rift with them.

Everybody obviously realises this is a transfer that wouldn't include us if it ever happened, but imagine if the ITK picked up in the days leading up to deadline.

SC'ers would log on with baited breath on the final day, having gone over the potential transfer a million times in their head. They've put him on their football manager teams, signed him on FIFA, got a picture of him on their breakfast cereal - and now all that remains is for him to sign on the dotted line.

Some early ITK breaks: "It's certainly looking close, didn't think it would be possible, but looks like Mata really wants to leave". SC erupts, sacrifical lambs are slaughtered, and statues of Mata have begun construction. This is followed up with a "Sky Sources understand that..." More eruptions, probably best not to say what kind, flow from SC posters.

Around 3pm GMT, JJ comes alive. "atm mata is NOT signing for us". Trouble. "Fuck" states the first poster, as if it were a signal for the deluge of expletives and weeping that is surely to follow.

7pm GMT, Sky are running looping footage of Mata getting into a car that is obviously going somewhere, as that is what cars tend to do. Bryan Swanson is in front of the green screen with a visible erection. "WHERE IS MATA GOING!?" He screams. More ITK fresh of the press: "Deal is done. Just a few details to sort out". As fast as posters were declaring this to be the coming of the end times, they perk up almost instantly. "YES!" shouts one poster, whilst wielding a double-ended dildo, "GET IN!" shouts another.

9pm GMT Sky show Mata arriving at Old Trafford.

The magnitude of this signing is such that, if it were to happen (I highly doubt it), we'd WIN THE LEAGUE!!

Code:
    Mata Soldado Lamela

    Capoue Paulinho Dembele

Centrao? Vertonghen Kaboul Walker

              Lloris

          "The invincibles"

Yup, hiring FSW really showed how much he cared about the fans...

all that we disagree on is the enquiry!.. make it public like they did with modric.. nothing wrong in that, in fact its fair game in football these days it seems, I've already said I could never see mata here if you read back.

mata is not the type to laugh at anyone.. in fact he's got huge respect for avb!.

I think it was made up, because the article now doesn't say Mata. It says a Chelsea attacker

You think Franco is scared of Roman ? Shiiiiiiiiiiit, Franco would slap the Goulash right out of Romans mouth and make him give us Mata.
