I seem to recall Mata heavily praising AVB previously when there was all that negative press from chelsea players...

Was it AVB that signed him from valencia?

I believe so, yes.

I also seem to recall us being in advanced talks with him before he joined Chelsea, so there might be some interest from the player himself, eventhough there will be big issues dealing with the club.

I mean, it's a fine dream, but still...Too bad we weren't able to sign Mata when we tried.
