I hope we bid exactly what they paid for Willian and we reaffirm that bid on the hour, every hour til the end of the window just to piss them off.

Never going to happen, please excuse me while I have a day dream though... Mata, Lamela, Bale with Soldado leading the line. That's sex.

Although half of me would like this, I would rather take the moral High Ground, and not lower ourselves to the level of these moronic ****'s.

Just make one fair offer, as publicly as we can, ad let ho know that he would not be purely a bench warmer with us.

Let him see sense and sit back. Show the Chavs how teams with history and class behave.

The only issue with this, is Mata is a Chelsea player. Had he been at Valencia still or somewhere that our club would be happy to talk to, it could plausibly happen.

If we did bid for him I'd think they'd string us along and off load him to West Ham or some such.
I don't think this is in the realms of reality but would gladly be proved wrong.

I think Mata is actually made available together with Moses.... apparently being offered to clubs which I saw from a reliable LFC source.

You fucking kidding me here? Mata and Lamela in the team providing for Goldado. All in front of a base containing two of Sandro, Paulinho, Kapow and Moose in front of our back 5.

That's a team with not mere pretentions of a title challenge but one which will be in the thick of one all season long.

Sheeit, get in say Eriksen as well and maybe a last minute cheeky late punt for a striker and Er.Mah.Gerd! :woot:

But yeah, chelscum have just signed a player they had little need for, for £30m to fuck us over in large part. Unless Maureen not only does not fancy Mata as a player but thinks he outright stinks, we're not getting him for any amount.

But would we do business with each other after Willian? I would love Mata to happen and in terms of the player it's realistic. Just the club to deal with isn't, IMO.

I can't believe we have a thread discussing one of the league's best players. We've come a long way, haven't we?

I would love, love, love him and he's the ideal player to fill our creativity void. Don't think it will happen...but I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea actually would deal with us. They seem prepared to deal with Man U...

We'd have a much better chance of signing Ronaldo.

Lock this thing already.

Even if Chelsea were willing to let him go, and that's a big if, there's no way in hell Levy would deal with them after what happened with Willian. Not a chance.

i don't see why not? it's us wanting to take one of their players this time, not the other way around.

I'll bow to your wisdom.

Funny how almost everything I think seems childish in hindsight...

I seem to recall Mata heavily praising AVB previously when there was all that negative press from chelsea players...

Was it AVB that signed him from valencia?

just unsettling him would be great!.. never in my dreams do I see mata coming to us but just getting
under mourinho's skin is a result.
i'm sure if it went public other clubs would make there interest known.

I believe so, yes.

I also seem to recall us being in advanced talks with him before he joined Chelsea, so there might be some interest from the player himself, eventhough there will be big issues dealing with the club.

Chelsea are not going to sell us Mata or Lukaku or a bag of crisps unless the crisps have been pissed on by a dog. This thread is dreamland. I mean, it's a fine dream, but still...Too bad we weren't able to sign Mata when we tried. My biggest hope now is that Jose's massive ego will want to dump Mata because he can't stand that a player might be as popular as he is.

Yes he is signed by Andre..... Maybe that is why Mou doesn't want him lol.

From here:

Mourinho believes that if United sell Rooney to a foreign club they would be damaging the league, claiming players moving between rivals should not be a major issue. "That old-fashioned mentality of 'I don't sell players to the same country' doesn't help the market and doesn't help the players," he said. "You see in Italy, it happens every season without any problem. The player wants to move from Milan to Inter, from Inter to Milan, from Roma to Juventus, from Juventus to Inter, and they do this all the time. You see [Filippo] Inzaghi, he played for Juventus, for Milan, for Inter. From the big ones I think only [Francesco] Totti stayed all his life. [Andrea] Pirlo – Inter, Milan, Juventus.

"Sometimes you push players abroad when you should be interested in keeping them in your league, because when you keep players in your league you are contributing to make your league the best league. So when you want to sell and you are pushing the players abroad I think you are giving the wrong contribution to the league where you are."

If Mata is made available..... This would be the strangest window ever.... And we should break the bank for him!
