Juan Foyth could return to Tottenham as a new player following his Villarreal loan spell. The Spurs centre-back joined the La Liga club on a season-long loan in September, and he has already racked up 15 appearances across all competitions, despite being signed as cover by Villarreal.

I'd be absolutely god-smacked if Mourinho gave him a whiff of a chance. If memory serves me right he made one mistake v Norwich with a heavy touch leading to a goal, and was subsequently never seen again in a Spurs shirt. He also played very well in the rest of that game. I always thought he'd be good in front of the centre backs where he'd have predominantly defensive duties without being the last line of defence. Seems like he's doing pretty well in that positionfor Villareal.

I agree with you. He appears lightweight though, maybe we didn't see everything that went on, because Jose has let some players make loads of fuck ups and they are still with us.

I think he's light-weight for a CB in the EPL but pretty decent physically to play DM. We'll most likely have Skipp back next season though which would further dent his chances of playing there. I think he'd offer a lot more in pure footballing terms than Sissoko though and would have been good in the role Moussa's been given. I don't think he has a future with us though, more's the pity.

Funny how things work out, I am sure he was all set to be our starting RB last season under Poch but got injured in pre season and then the rest is history.

Totally forgot about this guy, has he improved or do we sell?

Sell to help fund a starting central defender.

Dspite us being awful defensively I've never thought, nor I have I seen anyone posting, oh I wish we had Foyth back to bring in.

He made a mistake last season so Jose shipped him out. Luckily Jose has stopped that approach otherwise we would have no centre backs left at the club

We have a number of RCB options already, especially after Alderweireld decided to stay on.
So unless one of them was on their way, then he is not getting many games there.

Foyth was not a RB, and would look very awkward when he passed the half way line (much like Tanganga).

Foyth was never tried in midfield, but we know he got caught on the ball at times, thinking he had more time and skill than he actually did. Not good attributes for midfield.

But if we are a midtable team now, then he is easily good enough, has a few goals in him and a streak of violence, which as long as it is directed at arsenal players, is also welcome.

While I am not on his band wagon, he is Young so His future is not set in stone. The one thing he needed to Rid himself of was misunderstanding the abilities of those who he was opposing. It seems as if he always underestimated their speed or their brains and would often overestimate his own thus losing the ball in the transition from our 3rd to the middle 3rd. Take that out of his game and he is in contention for a bench role in my mind. I do love the idea of him sitting in front of the defenders because of his ability to pass and his vision. But his liabilities due to attitude used to outweigh What he brought to the table

I'd say his liabilities were due to lack of experience rather than attitude. When you consider he'd hardly played any high level football when we signed him it's hardly surprising he made mistakes and misjudged situations. In spite of that he had excellent levels of skill and calmness on the ball which can't really be taught whereas experience can be gained.

Exactly this. This is my biggest concern with Skipp and Sessegnon when they return. If they make one mistake they will never be allowed to recover and learn until it's too late.

An aspiring top 4 team is no place to develop youngsters.

He’s now 23 and an Argentina international.

I don’t think we can write him off completely, at this point. Let’s see how the rest of the season treats him.

A matchday squad-ready quartet of Skipp, Sessegnon, Clarke and Foyth returning would solve a lot of problems ahead of next season...

I’d be more than happy to give him another chance, there’s definitely a player in there

If Villarreal want to pay for him let him go. But if not he should come back and be cover.
