He's a funny lad that John Terry, great to have around the dressing room. Always has a way of lifting the troops with a laugh and a joke. You might say he has his team-mates in stitches at times.

It was Tal Ben Haim, and it was an accident. Obviously don't let that get in the way of confirming your prejudices, I imagine if Ben Haim hadn't done it by accident Terry would have done it deliberately anyway.

Even if it was Ben Haim, 50 stitches in the face makes you wonder what happened if it really was just a 'tackle'.

Apparently studs up challenge int he face, cosmetic surgery needed too..

I have a feeling he may think twice baout going into peoples feet, but goalkeepers are not all there anyway!!

Bit unlucky if you ask me, 2 bad hits to the head in recent times.

Given Cech underwent immediate facial surgery, I suspect the bigger issue is his confidence when he starts playing again. He's a multimillionaire and new dad, and he (and his wife) may just think: "Getting kicked in the head on a regular basis is not a great way of making a living".

I'm sure our resident SC goalkeepers will have a view on this and the concept of goalkeeper "bottle" (even allowing for the fact that being mad is considered essential for a GK).

PS if Cech does lose his confidence in diving at opponent's feet, Cudicini will presumably stay @ Chavski and all that ITK about how he'll be joining us in the summer will be history...

If we want a keeper who will control his area better than Robbo, Cudicini is hardly the way to go in any case. It wasn't something he was exactly renowned for.

Who is their back up to Cudicini? The second best team so far this season has a similar 'keeper situation to us. We had Forecast on the bench for Cerny last weekend.

Yup. I was never convinced that signing Cudicini, a keeper who's been content to sit on the bench for four seasons, was the right way to go.

I note Shanks' interesting comments above about Cech's bad luck.

My own view is that we may not see poor Petr on a football pitch again. Mrs Cech and Mama Cech were apparently very worried about him playing again after the Hunt incident, and 50 stitches & plastic surgery means he'll probably be both physically and mentally scarred for life.

Any sober lawyer could easily get him his contact paid up in full and an early retirement from football if he doesn't fancy getting a facefull of studs again.

You must remember Hilario.

it's just a shame they didn't both pull out their samurai swords and chopped one another's head off. Oh well, with JT around, I'm sure there'll be other opportunities.

JT "allegedly" didn't celebrate at the end of the Fenerbache game. He ran straight down the tunnel. Ran. He didn't limp.

Let more rumours begin/continue!

Ah...the mask of Gerry Cheevers...such memories.
I used to put stitches on my mask, too, with a magic marker, in imitation...
