I'm neither a Jenas lover or hater. That is that I've experienced both emotions in the time he has been here. He offers exceptional ability but is amazingly inconsistent. Very good but not consistently good enough. In my mind he is the face of spurs since he's been at the club - should have, but didn't.

We've had the best 5 years in the last 20 years (ish) and he's been a big part of it and yet we haven't achieved what we really want and what we've had every right to expect given the ammount invested - CL or premiership success.

In my mind he should be replaced, sold to villa or portsmouth and someone better brought in. What do you think?

Trouble is finding someone better. Maybe Sandro will be that player, maybe not.. The point is, the sort of player who would be a guaranteed, nailed on, step up in class from him would almost certainly not be interested in joining us unless we are Champs League regulars, or pay him over £120k a week, both of which are unlikely to happen short term.

Nothing out there better with premiership experience who you could replace him with at the moment and who would want to join Tottenham

Still currently our best all round CM player

Keep him. Hudd is still young in comparison. I think jj still offers more.

It's all very well saying all that, but you need to more specific. Who can we realistically replace him with who would be definite upgrade? Please also bear in mind that we are talking about the january window, in which it is notoriously difficult to sign top notch players. Central midfield is the one area where we need an additional cover, which means you are in fact advocating the sale of Jenas and the purchase of 2 new quality players in the January. Foolishness I say!

I believe the right thing to do is to sign a new central midfield player in the window who will provide extra cover and competition not just for Jenas, but also Huddlestone and Palacios. After that lets see where we are in the summer. If we achieve a top 4 finish, then it's a whole new ball game and we could attract and afford a new calibre of player.

We can't just swap JJ for another player. We need either one of our own CM to completely displace him or the new signing will have to show over at least 1/2 a season that he can do alot better, then we move JJ on. I give the guy alot of stick on here but the truth is he's all we got atm

For a start - how much do you think Jenas is worth? Only his most ardent fan would say anything like £15m.

For £20m you can get a lot of quality, and if you're looking to fill a particular hole, you can get better for a lot less. Melo, despite his issues at Juve, would be good for the money. Keita, Toure, would also be good.

Toulalan would be cheap at 20m but he'd be my ideal. Stoof's fave Lucho would also be great and for less money.

JJ's average is scoring 1 goal in every 6 games approx. It is hardly a great goalscoring record from midfield but alot better than anyother midfielder we have on our books. It would/could be alot higher if he was our penalty take like Fat Fwank and Barry are for there respective clubs!

Definitely not time to move on, he is integral.

Didn't vote, silly options to pick from.

See above!

But we basically agree.

At the moment we are light in options to play centre midfield so getting rid isn't really an option.

I can't think of any Prem proven players that we could buy who would be a genuine improvement on Jenas. If we go abroad there's a risk and I'd rather we buy someone like Sandro and then he has to prove he's able to take Jenas's place instead of just selling JJ straight off.

People have the right to question the performance of JJ, Keane and others but selling players who are currently playing an active role in the first team isn't a good way to build a competitive squad.

Didn't mean to be rude sorry.

I don't the whole speculating how much people cost and I would say that Jenas IS proven talent myself.

If it was keep him, he's integral/does a job etc it's better than he's great.

I would vote for keep him until we find someone better, but that applies to every player we have.

First of all in the poll you used the word PROVEN, how many of them players you have named are PROVEN in the PL....?

Secondly, do you in your right mind think anyone of them would want to join us in Jan.....?

Lucho joined Marseille in the summer for a fee of 18m euros rising to 24m.

Melo joined Juve in the summer for 20.5m euros + C.Zanetti going the other way.

How are them 2 gonna be cheap.

Keita, Toure and Toulalan are never gonna join us when alot larger clubs than us are sniffing around them. We've hardly got a "top name" manager in charge of our club, who's rep is spread across Europe, to entice/woo the players to join us!

I think it's fair to say that we can afford to keep him and buy someone else to see if he can be replaced as we only have 3 CMs to choose from.

I'd love Toulalan but I suspect if we bought Sandro or Sissoko we'd see Jenas edged out by Summer. However I'd prefer someone not only ready to be a better player but also to be an experienced leader. Jenas is the senior player but he doesn't drive the play.

I think we should sell Defoe and buy Ibrahimovic. While we're at it, Modric should leave and we could get Iniesta instead.
